Looking through my old TWoP Alias forum posts, what ABC.com posted initially that night was (STILL HUGE SPOILERS WHY AM I BOTHERING WITH A WARNING):

Agreed.  Especially when…

Yeah, it basically went something like this (HUGE SPOILERS):

Wow, didn't realize NYPD Blue was on Amazon in any form, much less the whole run (with the HD seasons in HD), that's awesome.  For once, something cool on Prime Instant not on Netflix Instant…

Yeah, I was WTFing reading that part of the article, too.  Most weirdly uncomfortable thing I've ever read in an article on AV Club.

While SVU is a much different show this season with the overhaul (though they're still guilty of this to a degree), for a very long time it seemed like they were desperately trying to avoid regular rape & molestation cases with live victims.  Lots of "sexually motivated homicides," crimes that looked like them but

I saw the "Barney Miller" episode when it was still on Hulu (it's not there or on Crackle anymore). There's potentially an interesting episode in there given the legal issues at the time but it's beyond hideous, with many wife says depressing thing about how her husband raped her -> laugh track lines.

That's what I was thinking, though it was pretty out of nowhere since we don't have a firm grasp of the timeline and the tagging took place during then first third of the season. If someone saw his motorcycle's license plate, then why now?

Why do I get the feeling Toby's secret cleft palate is going to come up again?

That alternate ending was shot at the behest of the network to draw more viewers to their website. It was never planned as an actual twist.
