Safety aside, I’ve been driving every day since 1989 and my favorite car I’ve ever owned was a 1998 Corolla (US model). It may have been unsafe, but that car took a horrible beating and kept on running. I put 190,000 miles on it before I got rid of it because I was sick of looking at the damn thing and for no other

You mean, “Enjoy your time, money, and freedom”???

Foot massage, bro. Just fucking do it. They ADORE that shit.

Maybe try dropping the “gaping hole on the front of our sedans” look and I might take you seriously again.

I’m a finance executive with 22 years experience, and I finally threw up my arms and play the game you’re playing instead. Well said, SimuLord. I tell people in my network “I’d rather go slow and steady and be able to sleep at night, than hot and heavy and worry now and again.”

She didn’t break the internet, she won it.

Psychological filtering. ;)

There’s a thin line between “negative” and “direct.” I think he was direct, not negative.

This is the single most valuable lifehack I’ve ever read. You’re my savior! I was actually approaching apoplexy over this issue just moments before clicking on it. THANK YOU SO MUCH for this lifehack. You can’t believe how relieved I feel now. Wow! I’m ready for a new life!

Don’t do it, Cam_Cam. I love my kids, but I also lost my marriage after they came. I’ve picked up the pieces since then (mostly), but looking back, totally not worth it. As grandpa used to say “Nobody in their right mind has ever said that having kids is convenient, affordable, or good for a marriage.” Unfortunately

Yeah. I test drove a 2016 WRX and had almost the same feeling. I’m still a dad so I went with the Legacy, but I thought “Once the kids are gone, I’m coming back for YOU!”

Yeah. I never update ANYTHING unless it’s a security patch. Change for change’s sake to my personality type is pointless.

Same. Switched to a Subaru two years ago (I live and drive in the Rockies), and regret not having checked them out decades ago. This thing (a Legacy) is a beast in the snow, and maintenance so far has been great. Compare that to the old Taurus I was driving... what a nightmare.

That’s my experience too. I’m a Controller at a company that buys cars for its salespeople, so I’m always approving buying/selling transactions, and CarMax is great for the higher end imports. Good call, Tom.

It’s not just Americans, though. The entire North Korean ideology, for example, lives based on conspiracy theories about other countries.

“The whole problem with the world is that fools and fanatics are always so certain of themselves, and wiser people so full of doubts.” - Bertrand Russell

That’s because neophytes, in any field of study, typically have strong intelligence but lack experience to know how their knowledge should be applied. IQ and EQ require balance.

It comes from the same place in the brain as religious belief, so yeah, there are a lot of intelligent people who believe conspiracy theories. With all their hearts and souls, in fact.

Carl Sagan addresses this topic extensively (exhaustively?) in his seminal book “Demon Haunted World.” Highly recommended reading if you’re interested in understanding the human experience with conspiracy theories.

Oh dude you fucken nailed it, right there.
