Fuck off, Octavian.

I would think everything about the effects would tell you off, but then again Lucas stuck random CGI stupid shit into them on home video, so I can see how it would be confusing to some.

I get the problem about the non identity of the mother in Luke's case, but I can't think of any good reason Han shouldn't have realized Rey was his daughter in that case. Or even why she wouldn't have recognized him; she wasn't *that* young when "orphaned", was she? Do you think Han and Leia knew Rey was their

Oh, I was just assuming we wouldn't get any more Han lines. That thought occurred to me, but I'm not sure how it would make sense, plotwise. If she's Luke's daughter, they're cousins in any case, but obviously the sibling relationship would be more dramatic. Inter sibling conflict could also help the series get over

I thought Ridley did a tremendous job with the part, which may not so much be a matter of great or subtle acting, but she just inhabited the role in the way only an unknown really could have in this situation. She felt like a genuinely plausible hero in the best way. I certainly would be surprised if she became

You'll never die as long as you have our love, my friend!

I quite enjoyed it as well. The overwhelming similarity to a New Hope worked well for me in regards to introducing the new characters, because it made the small differences in how they acted and how events played out feel more significant and engaging. It helped give them a very smooth entry in to the franchise. On

I can see R2 more than that cock block Threepio!

How'd you like the new Star War?

No, I think knowing Ford, it's easy to see why he wouldn't be in any more. But they're taking on a lot of canonical weight in offing off arguably the most beloved aspect of the whole franchise.

One of the things I liked about Finn was that having a renegade Stormtrooper helped establish that Stormtroopers were real people, both figuratively and literally. That added a certain extra weight to small scale action scenes.

I mean, of course she fulfills some familiar tropes, but she's so cool!

…no, but that would be an interesting movie!

It was very telegraphed, but hard to believe all the same, just because that character is such a crucial part of the franchise that them making a canonical and permanent decision like that feels very bold.

But it seems weird to introduce the character back into canon *after* we meet her daughter!

He's the most obvious candidate. It wouldn't make sense if she were another child of Han and Leia or something like that. It's even harder to think of who her mother would be, if anyone. Maybe her mother is that high ranking Stormtrooper, who they so cruelly disposed of?

(Luke?)

An eye roll and some highly sardonic beeps and bloops would be much appreciated.

The Sith are mentioned as a previous Dark Side threat before the Empire.

The parallelism! It makes my head hurt. I actually quite enjoyed most of it here, but it's going to get old if they stretch it out throughout the whole franchise in as blatant a fashion.
