Damn hot outside, but a perfect chance to go sit in the AC and watch “Sorry to bother you”!

The Rock... something something... scissors.

Honestly, the distribution of grades by a reviewer is deceptive in terms of appearing easy to read and categorize. I’ve “given” more B-range grades in the past couple of months, but there have been runs where I feel like I’ve given everything I see (for this site anyway) a C or a C+. The truth is, most movies fall

Movies that get a traditional theatrical release (aka films not made by Netflix or Amazon) never really show up on streaming for at least a few months.

Skyscraper looks interesting as the genre, “Die Hard, but in a _____” comes full circle.

Do it, moviegoing is the best!!!

As a huge “The Coup” fan I’m dying to see this-- guess I’ll have to bite the bullet and pay to see it at an indie theater because I don’t see it getting released for streaming anytime soon...

What, you expect me to let my ignorance get in the way of righteous indignation??

In your defence, if Terry Crews being in it was supposed to be a spoiler, then apparently someone forgot to tell the people who made the poster, since he’s fourth credited or something.

it feels like young edgar wright meets david cronenberg meets chappelle’s show

I hadn’t heard that about Lakeith Stanfield. It’s shitty behavior, but I (and I don’t speak for the A.V. Club at large) don’t really have the bandwith to keep track of every time an actor, writer, director, or other filmmaker does something shitty.

Sorry. I only know from the trailer. Love the album which inspired the film, love Boots, and just thought that if one person goes to see it because they know Terry Crews is in it, then it’s worth ruining the surprise for another person. Sorry that person was you bfred.

Visually and conceptually, I think this will be this decade’s Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind. A film that will be studied in film school, for sure. It has been a long time since I’ve been so fucking hyped to see a movie. I bought tickets 3 weeks out to a showing here!

Yes! Visually and conceptually, I think Sorry to Bother You will be this decade’s Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind. A film that will be studied in film school, for sure.

This so looks so fun and inventive like an old Gondry, Jonze, or Kaufman project. Stanfoeld and Thompson are burgeoning superstars as well. Can’t wait.

was lucky enough to attend the toronto premiere. boots did a little q&a after and seems so genuinely happy to have his vision on-screen.

Sometimes exhausting? Well then...I’ll take a nap before because there’s no way I’m not seeing this..

Can we just make it official and put Tessa Thompson in 100% of the stuff I like? She’s in 85% of it already, and its working out very well, so we may as well round up.

What a relief to have have an indie movie with actual style and a visual sensibility, to say nothing of the satirical and political points of view. Way too many directors seem like they’re content to just look at what’s around them and make movies about their own lives, starring their own friends, etc etc.

“It’s this year’s Get Out!” say people who can only tolerate one prominent black-oriented piece of pop culture per year
