the problem is, it has to interpolate trough time, and then, there's much more variation, as there's always that one-pixel jitter of the information, always up and down, each frame. so no, the information (which is HALF) will not result in a video of half the size for a comparable quality.

but only on a crt. the other problem with interlaced is, it's much worse to compress than progressive for DIGITAL data. it was invented as a compression for analogue data, and halfed the needed bandwith there.

the amount of light does not depend on the TYPE of light. I can have it nice and bright with led lights just fine. It's just a matter of how many are needed to get the light you want. but to hell with logic, just waste energy to feel cool about it.

as they moved to multiprocess like chrome and ie, 64bit is not really needed anymore. as long as an individual webpage doesn't go beyond 4gb, the browser can still go beyond 4gb overall, thus using all ram in a 64bit setup.

"not seeing the point" is never a good enough reason for me. i'm a science dude. science is never about seeing a point, but finding one afterwards.

we actually like (pun intended) targeted ads. that's why we like stuff on facebook, follow companies on twitter, etc: because those are companies we care about. and their products.

skydrive can nicely sync since yesterday. no dropbox needed anymore. all files offline, all files online.

I can search trough them trough the address bar, can I not? Am I missing something?

i personally don't like dual monitor setups, especially not with different screen sizes. so i always have my laptop closed when in a dock/connected to an external screen. and then, such a setup saves space.

you're using it wrong. just use all apple products and applications. that's the way to go, of course. and then, get the update. obviously.

Had that idea resently, thought it to be quite nice.

phone: left. everything else: right. problem: SOLVED.

indeed. facebook and youtube should have gone down, too. that would've been effective to the internet-using-but-not-knowing-about-sopa part of the world

no, actually change the logo, make it present on EVERY PAGE that you don't want sopa. make people aware on EVERY PAGE that they could not read this page if sopa would be active. etc.

one could go black AND still be accessible, which would be a middleground. make it IN YOUR FACE that sopa sucks, make the page black like someone died, etc. but still let people access content to inform and let them read the page. but inform them while they read "you could not read this anymore if sopa would be in

being anti is stupid. they're all just tools you can use, with pro and contra. in my case, wp7 has the most pro and the least contra (and the data mining is entierly optional and FOR the user, too).

or don't use android or ios. well, in my case, microsoft is mining my data. windows phone ftw :)

Paint.NET + 1, use it since years.

as per usual. spreading lies about lies. gizmodo at it's best.. :)

if anybody cared to watch the video longer, they would have noticed him stating that it's not a realtime demo.
