The fact that trolls can only think of one historically important black person (Fredrick Douglass) before having to grasp at a comic book fictional place (Wakanda) is exactly why we there need to be public celebrations and education around black history. Like, they didn’t even reach for Harriet Tubman or Rosa Parks?

That symbol was SO omnipresent that year that a bunch of the ‘two direction’ street signs in my hometown were vandalized with spray paint to look like the bat symbol.

I mean, nothing against Elizabeth Banks, but you already have Kate McKinnon in the VO booth, why wouldn’t you just cast her in the live action role? Everything is better with Kate McKinnon!

What’s doubly infuriating is that Gibson’s well-known history of racism, drunk driving and homophobia was a dramatically smaller blip on his career than Winona’s shoplifting from Sak’s was on hers (Oh, boo-hoo. Poor luxury retail store!).

If a friend thought that my trans assistant and trans best friend/artistic collaborator were secretly faking so they could rape people then I woooould not accept them for who they are or wave off their viewpoints. That feels like pretty steady ground to end a friendship over.

I mean, in the letter itself it says that she pretty patiently HAD those good faith discussions:

I’m surprised the article didn’t mention Fiona Apple’s masterpiece ‘Fetch the Bolt Cutters,’ which not only DIDN’T suffer from being released during the pandemic, but felt like the perfect soundtrack to our anxious, cagey mood.

And how great was Haviland Morris? I know most other Gen Xers had a crush on Pheobe Cates, but Marla set me up for a lifetime fixation on snarky, fast-talking redheads.

Jaws 3-D is absolutely abysmal, but it gets all the passes in the world from me because that cocaine fever dream gave us the gift of Lea Thompson for the first time.

Floyd tested positive for COVID 19... and Officer Chauvin was in VERY close proximity for over eight minutes.

And yet I expect he’ll somehow try to crow about how this was a victory for him.

I mean, I’m not sure if you’re being sarcastic or not, but the whole problem is that organized protests with clear speeches by community leaders happen all the time, including in the midst of this, and none of it gets press UNTIL stuff goes all wobbly.

For instance, I work on McAllister in San Francisco and there were

“Do you think he would be rejected by people if he used his technology and motivation for good?”

The following season of South Park was riddled with Phil Collins jabs SPECIFICALLY because of that Oscar loss. Matt & Trey said at the time that they knew they weren’t going to win, but they resented losing to THAT.

Also in a lot of areas, liquor stores are the only nearby places to buy food.

I lived in the San Francisco Tenderloin since the mid 90's, and until they opened a City Target downtown (which was in like... 2013 or so?) liqour stores were where I had to buy most of my groceries unless I wanted to try to finagle grocery

And Caroline Dhavernas! She was so amazing on ‘Wonderfalls’ (another Fuller project) and I was always surprised her career never skyrocketed. It was nice to see her in a TV show again.

I mean, the weird superhero plot sounds like garbage, but the trailer seemed at least moderately entertaining in an ‘I’ll watch it if it comes on Netflix” kind of way.

“He was modeled after a beatnik”

I suspect that it’s either a lie or they have some fancy expensive alternative test that he’s taking instead. I had the test done just yesterday, and while it’s not quite as bad as I feared (it felt a little funny; the hardest part is that it triggered my sneeze reflex) I could not imagine that man-child having the

Germaphobes also wouldn’t be so reluctant to use protection like masks or social distancing during an outbreak. I think his behavior during this whole pandemic kinda eliminates any ‘germaphobe’ claims he makes from here on out.
