Ha! Fair!
Ha! Fair!
“And the last word I’d apply to either of the Tim Burton Batman movies is “campy.”
They opened for Oingo Boingo in the very first concert I ever went to ever when I was 15. I remember disliking them pretty severely, but that may have just been because I came to a Boingo show excited for frantic songs with xylophones and brass sections and Jack Skellington singing and 311 was so not that.
I didn’t like Garbage in the 90's because I was a snotty teen / 20-something that wouldn’t listen to ANYTHING if it got radio play, but now I have nothing but love for them.
“Naturally, I spent all of my babysitting money on the entire discography of the Rolling Stones”
“Also during Watergate, legitimate journalism was actually held in high regard. Now we live in the era of Fox News and Twitter, where facts aren’t necessary as long as the lie gets repeated enough, confirms a bias, and is presented in a flashing graphic.”
“Not really. She would just culture vulture him”
Also, when folks who work at retail / food service ask for a living wage, the response they get is “Well, you’re not supposed to be able to make a living on those jobs! Those jobs are for kids who still live at home! If you want to earn a living wage, you should be educated and experienced enough to get something…
GROOOSSSS. Everything about this is gross. I’m especially grossed out by this:
I love that these pages are taken from around 2005 (judging by references to ‘Charlie & the Chocolate Factory’) but are still holding onto that design and color palette from 1987.Like, I’m not even being snarky; I legit find it super charming.

Ah, Bebe... I don’t know a single person who shopped there, but for one glorious season in 1998, they positively WALLPAPERED San Francisco in fierce photos of Rose Mcgowan, and for that... Generation X will always be grateful. ::raises glass:: GODSPEED!
“He has praised the new administration for its power to “change the course of America in ways that are biblical”
I don’t know why, but for some reason my brain mixed ‘Guy Ritchie’ up with ‘Baz Luhrman’ when I read the press release and I was thinking ‘That would be a pretty good directorial match, actually!’
‘Mars Needs Moms’ made me SOOOO angry. Berkeley Breathed’s art is so distinctive and iconic - why would you adapt one of his books and make the designs look like THAT?!?
Do you remember ‘Region I’ and ‘Region II’ media? Like, DVDs from the UK wouldn’t play on American DVD players (and vice versa), and there would be SO MUCH STUFF I wanted but would only be available on ‘Region 2.’ And folks would speak in hushed whispers about universal players that could play any DVD but cost like…
I liked the Christian-based calendar thing and I loved the whole bit on Achilles (can’t ANYTHING your Mom does be ENOUGH? Wear a big SHOE!) but oof... the first half hour or so was pretty rough and fell uncomfortably flat. Like someone else said upthread; I got the vibe that headspace-wise he was in a worse place than…
Same. And my eyes switched from white / gold to blue / black within the span of a few seconds of scrolling down and scrolling back up again (after seeing it for almost the entire day as white / gold). It was such a weird experience - it was SO different it actually startled me a little, and for a while I was convinced…
