@corpore-metal: It is a money-saving exercise, I think - it's just that it costs a lot less in the long run to mass-produce robots than it does to train troops - training costs thousands (well into 6 figures for pilots) and robots don't need food, clothes, new kit etc...

@Charlie Jane Anders: I'd like to add my love for that episode, though that's more down to Zoe in her catsuit than anything.

There's some really nice stuff there - I like Pia Guerra's take on the TARDIS and the love for Paterson Joseph.

@cyphermagnum: and @LoganAdams: Sorry guys, but he's Gallifreyan. From the North, but that's as specific as you get.

@earthclanbootstrap: Better than regenerating into a genetically-modified kangaroo.

Kinda off-topic, but I get the feeling a lot of people here who did enjoy the film (or at least the style of shooting) would enjoy (if that's the entirely right word) Man Bites Dog.

@colormist: You don't like WE3? That's blasphemy.

@k4man: Man ssstink.

Aside from Enigma, which is brilliant, I have a few thoughts on great stand alone books:

@walter.feces: I've never been able to find a copy since I first read it years ago. I guess I'll need to try and pick up one second hand.

@colormist: More than one volume so it wouldn't be. You either didn't like the Invisibles or would fight someone to the death to defend it.

@casewindou: Seeing as this is for one-off collections then no, Y doesn't get any love - how many volumes is it now? 10?

@Al Swearengen hates cocksuckers v2: Could it perhaps be that it's got to break for sporting/music events anyway; it ramps up the tension; it keeps the Beeb's biggest draw on a saturday night on all year and it lets the leads do other work AND Who?

@Chris Braak: Sounds rather like something Banks has explored when his Culture characters have either changed sex or are still in the process of changing gender.

I kinda like Cameron's infodump - it's just that it's the one in Aliens.

@Daveinva: Meatballs with teeth? Damn, but that film sucked.
