You have to declare a Safe Space (TM) before someone can violate it. Since we have you on record saying:

lol you sound triggered, maybe reconsider your stance on trigger warnings? They could save you from a lot of future emotional turmoil.

If this was made “for” white people then they’ve done a terrible job, as I’ve only seen the show discussed in black spaces.

How about, “Cooper shouldn’t have done it because it looks misogynistic, which as we all know is one of the most insidious things about misogyny, it’s almost never clear cut black and white and leaves room for the privileged class to discount the experiences of marginalized individuals.”

I agree, it’s definitely a no win situation. The way I’m thinking about it now (subject to change) it’s better to not have her on entirely. You can’t get a viral moment out of a non-appearance the way this whole eye roll thing has gone.

I try not to presume :)

I’m not clear on why an eye-roll is necessarily more dismissive/sexist than a spoken countering of her lies.

It’s pretty straight forward. Either don’t give the representative a platform or be prepared to counter her lies. AC’s allowed to and should push back verbally all he wants, but instead, since a professional TV man can’t control his face, all we’re talking about is his absurd eye-roll.

Jeffrey Lord is a CNN employee though. He exists purely so that Anderson Cooper and Co. can clown on him. Kellyanne Conway is a White House representative. They’re not really in the same ballpark which is why I said Stephen Miller or some other bullshit artist from the White House.

I did, and she’s unbearable as always. I don’t really think the clip is relevant though considering the vast majority of people who react to this story will only see the above gif, which looks bad. I see that and I lose respect for Cooper as a newsman. You can’t have that little facial control as a professional tv

but in a sense, this is her armor: she says utterly egrigious nonsense and, if scoffed at, claims it is due to sexism

Why did he have her on his show in the first place? Everyone knows exactly what you’re going to get with her. All he did was give her a platform and open himself up for criticism for acting petty and immature, if not misogynistically.

Oh, so he should give Kellyanne special consideration because she’s a woman then?

True, are there examples of Cooper rolling his eyes in the face of men from the Trump administration?

It’s an analogy i was using to try and help you understand that your counter example of Cooper tooling on Jeffery Lord doesn’t make the point you were trying to prove (especially considering the difference between the KAC and JL; Lord is an employee of CNN, he exists to get clowned by AC). Just because someone has

Some of the biggest, most open misogynists I know are gay men.

Ok, I can find numerous clips of Trump verbally abusing male reporters. That doesn’t make how he treated Megyn Kelly at the debate and afterwards any less misogynistic. Same holds true with Anderson Cooper. His past disrespect to male pundits doesn’t lessen the inherent misogyny in his disrespect to Conway.

And sometimes a man feels comfortable rolling his eyes at a woman on national tv but wouldn’t do the same to another man. And that’s what we call a culture of misogyny.

He never has before. What makes you so sure that misogyny played no role here when its so pervasive in every aspect of society?

Doesn’t make it any less true.
