I don’t think 20th Century Fox is going to let the rights revert during the era of the MCU. Even if they can’t figure out how to make the characters work (they just need to be darker! Grittier!) returning them to Marvel is just a guaranteed way to make Disney, Fox’s competitor, money that could’ve been Fox’s.

I'd be willing to bet the franchise continues to lose them money, and the smart move would be to let the rights revert. They won't ever do it though.
