I also am living in a city at the moment, so that also probably contributes to how high the prices are. Moving soon though, so I’m very excited to hear that prices in the rest of NJ aren’t too terrible.

I’ve been drunk many times but don’t react well to marijuana, so I’ve never really experienced a high. The one time I smoked I spent the next few hours convinced that everyone around me wanted to kill me and bury my body in the woods.

Ha that’s actually where I’m moving!

I live in Jersey City, so a lot of it may be that supermarkets here and in Hoboken are deciding to charge NYC prices for stuff. I’m also searching for a job at the moment and have a very very limited budget, so I may in my mind be over-inflating prices.

You talked about alcohol in your last comment (and are continuing to do so on this one), so I don’t see why you’re so annoyed that I’ve continued to talk about it as well...

Wow. I wish prices were like that here!

Of course it’s individual, and of course it’s a spectrum. And, as you’ve said, there’s a difference between having a glass of wine every night because you enjoy the taste of wine and drinking enough every night that you can’t speak clearly and are light-headed and stumble everywhere.

I’m not denying that being drunk and being high feel differently. What I’m saying is that to other people around the end result is the same. Someone who’s drunk/high is impaired. They aren’t themselves, they aren’t the same.

Do you mind if I ask where in the US you live in? Because in NJ getting 8 bananas is going to cost wayyyyyyy more than $2. For slightly less than $2 I could get a large can of black beans, but that’s probably it.

What do you mean by “operate regularly?” If you mean that someone can occasionally smoke pot and still be a good parent and live a successful life then yes, I agree.

I don’t think that pot does make someone a better parent though... what if something happens to his kids while he’s high? Is he going to drive them to the doctor or the hospital while high?

How so? I keep seeing people claiming this, but no one is explaining why.

Would you drive stoned?

Yeah that guy seemed a little questionable... if the only way you can tolerate spending time with your kids is getting high every day that’s a problem. We’d judge a dad who got drunk every day and was drunk around his kids all the time, so I fail to see how being high around them is better.

Eh this makes me sort of uncomfortable. I get that kids can be boring, but I don’t think it’s a good idea to be impaired around a kid, be it from marijuana/alcohol/whatever. There’s nothing wrong with getting high or drunk, but it shouldn’t be done while you’re responsible for a kid.

I own guns and agree with you; there is a middle ground and a way to reduce violence while respecting rights. Of course the gun fetishists will never allow that to happen.

I mean, personally I don’t like semi-automatic rifles, and would be perfectly fine with only being allowed to own bolt-action rifles and shotguns... I think people only buy them because they look “scary”/more military-like and can fire off shots more quickly and be reloaded faster, which is probably why they’re more

They should be in prison for the rest of their lives.

Ok. Let’s say, theoretically, that a law passes today mandating that all guns sold are required to have biometric locks (something that is part of the gun itself, not an add-on lock).

There are a few problems with things like biometric trigger locks. One issue is that the fingerprint scanners that exist now, when they work at all (they’re pretty unreliable), require exactness... if you don’t put your finger on the scanner in JUST the right way it won’t work. With this kind of law it’s only a matter
