Ask any developer who makes digital content for a living
What if that was your only job though? You spend hours a day working on a project, only to find out that instead of people paying for your hard work people are downloading it for free. So while you're shouting "digital information should be free" you're not making any money and I assume you don't live off of pixie…
Again another idiot that doesn't realize that piracy != theft. You are using the implication that the person commiting "piracy" would've bought it. Most of the time that is false, and a large number of pirates buy it after the fact anyway.
Tell that to every open source developer on the planet. Debian alone would cost several billion dollars if everyone was paid. People work with open source and other free digital information as that is how it should be.
Nope like I said in an earlier reply, the "oh but they lose a sale" is flawed. If that person wasn't going to buy it anyway no money was lost in the "piracy" of said product.
Digital information should not be free. Somebody spent time and money in creating that digital information, there fore somebody should be paid for it.
Notice how I said legal methods, make those easier and stop shutting out the internet like it doesn't exist.
No they have not lost a sale, losing a sale implies they would've bought it in the first place.
Heh, I got a Windows Live account forever ago and used my Gmail as ID for it instead, heck I don't even think they offer that anymore but I still have it. I never did like Hotmail...
Well there is a major difference between a Windows login screen and a Ubuntu one.
Tada! On the bright side at least the muggings went down.
If he wrote it while actually inside the Google building on company time I could understand this as Google then technically owns it. (he was paid while writing it, even if it weren't for the book itself) I assume this is probably the case but either way there isn't really enough information here...
I've been booting up on my Ubuntu laptop with an HDD (not an SSD) in under 10 seconds for several years. Nothing new here.
This is why Copyright Law is so ridiculous.
If they can't prove an attack then guess what they violated the law. And off to jail for them.
Is it personal? Yes a tablet is personal considering you are a person that owns it.
How to prevent muggings.
Backup to small portable hard drives and put them in a portable firesafe, when firesafe starts getting full put the oldest ones in a bank safe deposit box.
