You know what? You’re 100% right. I was so upset I wasn’t thinking clearly. Of course stories need to be shared and “safe spaces” are the best way to do that. Knowing you can share what your experience is with like minded people to build support and to build community. Thanks for reminding me about this.

Not to excuse or downplay sexism in Tech or Finance, but these are the kinds of stories I really, REALLY would like to see more of in women’s spaces and for feminists to grapple with. I get that its hard being a woman making $100k a year in a job where a man makes $129k, and that it really sucks when some bros want to

You don’t want their cock? Your standards are too high.

Anyone who has actually spent time around horses knows this. Not trying to diminish Briard’s work, since I’m sure her insights extend beyond this, but it’s painfully obvious that horses are bitchy, clichy creatures if you watch them for about five minutes. My 4H friends always used the term “mare-ish” as a stand-in

Thank god, I hope this girl gets whatever help she needs. Luckily, Rosie seems like the kind of mom who’d be on top of that.

It was the last of many nyc-dc flights on a Tuesday night, which I guess is a slow flying night. They said normally they'd just cancel a flight that empty but the plane had to be in dc the next morning.

That is amazing, and the memory of that would comfort me through years of travel indignities.

Photo proof.

One time I flew from LGA to DCA on a 737 that had a total of 5 passengers on it. It was so cool, they let all of us sit in first class and we skipped the safety spiel and drank free liquor with the flight attendants.

Sometimes cash flow overrules everything else. I’d rather have 8K in the bank for emergencies and have a cheap monthly payment that I can escalate, rather than have $500 in the bank, no loan, but possibly have to sell the vehicle to meet unforeseen financial obligations (AKA: we done goofed)

I’ve financed cars at higher APR before when my credit wasn’t so great. Not everyone has an 800 credit score.

When I got into the car sales game I had a manager teaching me the ropes. One of his first lessons:

hahahaha

I did my research and was expecting a lowball figure. The dealer offered me 1/3rd more than I expected. I took it right away and he said, "Wait, is there something wrong with the car?"

That’s the best part. People go to CarMax, they get offered $9k for a sale figure. Then they go to Subaru of Wherever and they get offered $11k. “Subaru gave me $2k more!” No, Subaru gave you the same $9k CarMax did. They just added that $2k back into the price of the Outback you bought without your knowledge.

Yeah, let’s be honest, nobody still has a running Trans Sport.

Holy crap, they offered him $500 for a Pontiac Transport? That’s a great deal, take it. Because according to this website a Transport is worth $305 in scrap. Because that’s where it’s heading ultimately. And I suspect sooner rather than later.

Thanks so much! Life without the fog is pretty damn beautiful!

This is a picture of my sobriety tattoo, just in case I ever forget how long this road has been.

This is a lovely story. Living donation is brave and selfless. I will always feel thankful to my husband’s living donor. I tried to donate, but was not a match. However, I feel pretty strongly that if someone I knew needed a transplant, I would volunteer to donate.

My best friend’s mom needed a kidney and no one we knew was a match. So my friend and I gave genetic information to the Univ of Neb Med Center and they submitted it to the Paired Donation database. Turned out I matched a guy in Iowa (who needed a kidney) and my friend’s mom matched his wife (who was a willing donor).
