Seems a bit suspicious that they're looking to announce the pub date about the same time as the series airs. Maybe it's just me, but I'm not certain the Meereenese Knot exists. I do believe the show exists and I also believe that it could bring a lot of new sales for the books. I also believe that hardcovers make more…
"It's so crazy, it might just be true!"
@RomanForest: Don't know where you got that figure.
@RomanForest: I'll point to the answer below. It's called business.
@Diogenes-the-Cynic: Yes, I do, because that's a few million they could pocket. If part 3 makes the same amount of money as 2 (which it will not; the trend is that sequels make less money) and they can make it for less, then that means they'll profit more from it. That's a pretty standard business practice. Maximize…
@RomanForest: I was under the impression that New Orleans would be subbing in for Gotham this time around, instead of Chicago, due to costs. And that does make sense, but I still don't see how Mark Millar's tweets fit into it.
Am I missing something? How does it go from Mark Millar talking about his favorite Batman villain to Killer Croc? How do we know his favorite isn't Maxie Zeus? Or Crazy Quilt? Or Bat-mite?
Gotta say, the Rifftrax for this (with Mike and Kevin) is pretty darn funny also.
@im.thatoneguy3: I say that too, but, at least according to Zoe, Syfy doesn't.
I enjoyed the tar out of this episode. One sad thing: Alessandra Torresani was on Attack of the Show last night and said that if this episode didn't garner the ratings that season 1.0 did, the show would be canceled. So, I'm waiting with bated breath to see how it did.
@sorrowandpain: That's true of a lot of sci-fi. Somehow, in a genre that is based on technology, the stories are often anti-science, anti-intellectual trollop. See any movie with "They tampered in god's domain" as the theme. Avatar was a prime example of this. Personally, I'd rather live in a "soulless"…
@syrdax: See, I like the idea that a normal human (well, normal except for the extreme intelligence) could vex the most powerful being on earth. Brains vs. brawn.
I think Luthor could be an awesome villain provided he decides to do something a bit more grand than real estate fraud.
@Dr Emilio Lizardo: I was wonder (read as: hoping) the same.
Good to hear they got a buncha Swedes.
This had more jokes-an-8-year-old-would-laugh-at than any other episode I've seen. And I did laugh. The SBD one really caught me off guard. I'm also amazed they're able to get away with some of the things they do on the show, e.g. the brains, the head-exploding, references to "getting off."
Here's hoping she goes the horror-film-sequel route. Who doesn't want to read "Harry Potter in Space?" Or even "Harry Potter in 'da Hood?"
@Cash907Censored: Thus far, RDM hasn't done any commentaries for Caprica. They've mostly been done by David Eick. The best one thus far has been Eick and the woman who plays Amanda Graystone, who has quite the pottymouth. I enjoyed the BSG commentaries, but it did bother me that they were just the podcasts.
Huh. I thought the reason was that it's really expensive to animate a CGI robot.
