Maybe it is because I am not a huge oval racing fan, and American open wheel racing has been not exactly popular in my lifetime, but I’ve never understood why anyone would give a shit about having a “Pace Car Edition” of anything.
My argument is larger than just privacy relating to license plates. My argument is also dipping into the very foundation of “evidence” used to investigate, arrest, try, and convict people.
But a licence plate doesn’t identify you to the vehicle unless you have access to the database that information is kept.
But having a drivers’ license and driving around in a two-ton death machine is NOT a right. It’s a privilege

A number of incidents involving crash hit-and-run leave the front plate behind. That’s a handy feature.
I think it’s less about completely preserving the look of the front end, and more about mostly preserving the look while also not having to drill holes in the bumper.
