There are about 200,000,000 people in Nigeria, so the number of literate people is about 120,000,000. Plenty enough for there to be many bookstores. Additionally, the literate are more heavily concentrated in cities, so you can find a lot of bookstores there — look up “bookstores in Lagos” to find some.

Ok but Africa primarily offers educated and capable workers. Again, if someone has the wealth to go through the process of immigration, they’re likely to be educated and skilled, which is why African immigrants tend to be so well-educated. It’s a selection effect.
