I mean maybe it’s not “totally unclear”, but “partially unclear” is even more misleading — that would imply that we knew part of the motivation, but we really don’t. We only know who the target of the attack was. I would go for unmodified “unclear”. And your original comment framed it as though there was some glaring

It implies that there is a motivation, and that the motivation is somehow against the target. Beyond that? The motivation is unclear.

...that only answers what the target is, not the motivation. Could be anything from a disgruntled employee to teen vandals to, as Tom speculates, somebody who’s pissed about gentrification.

Yeah... I just started playing the game and am using a Mac touchpad, and even I could land those shots

Yeah it’s a waste of my time to argue with someone about the internal logic of something they haven’t read, and the Godwinning is my cue to leave.

The information publicly available includes the comic, which is free to read online.

So some areas in Africa and the Caribbean aren’t “shitholes.” Great, excellent point, but not relevant to what I’m saying, and beyond the scope of the president’s comment.

The online sample of the comic doesn’t clarify what the cataclysm was and doesn’t mention any genetic defect. It does suggest that the younger generation is artificially born and entirely female. The trans woman character, Grandma, is older and framed as the sole surviving member (of any biological sex or gender

In the canon of the comic yes, you do get to survive. There’s a trans woman character. Dunno how the birth defect works.

yes, there’s a trans woman character

It has a trans woman in it.

It has an AMAB trans woman in it.

But at least one character is trans, so canonically the disease did give a shit.

I don’t. Because well-educated, capable workers come from those “shitholes”.

Ok but Africa primarily offers educated and capable workers. Again, if someone has the wealth to go through the process of immigration, they’re likely to be educated and skilled, which is why African immigrants tend to be so well-educated. It’s a selection effect.

He was talking about legal immigration, not illegal immigration. So this isn’t really relevant.

The majority of people from underdeveloped nations don’t have much wealth or education, but the majority of people from Africa with the means to come to the U.S. do have the necessary skills and education. African immigrants are twice as likely as white Americans to have college degrees. More specifically, 58% of
