Yes, thank god for the safety of highly combustible liquid circulated through tens of feet of plumbing.

That truck in the background is like when you see some poorly-dressed slob in the background of a picture of some fashion model. She’s got a pretty silver dress and he’s got some patchword red coveralls

Elon: I want to create zero emissions vehicles for us to all drive around in, solar panels for homes, and power management via batteries to help humans get off of fossil fuels.

Honda Odyssey: the diarrhea sauce on the turd sandwich that is having kids.

It was obviously garage kept all of it’s life. The effects of the sun are cumulative and can’t be ignored. A former neighbor and I bought nearly identical Tundras the same week. Kept mine in the garage, his out in the sun/rain. After 13 years mine looked almost new while his had faded paint, interior etc. Never ceases

This kind of mileage isn’t very remarkable. I would be disappointed if any modern car couldn’t make it this far with basic care. When I sold my 1999 Jeep Cherokee it had 218K miles, with all original parts (including clutch), save a radiator and the usual wear items, and it was running perfectly.

The only real difference for my wife and I is never really wanting one (sans track duties) until now. 2017 RF Miata in our garage now, such a joy to drive - also there is plenty of room to bargain on these, do not let the sticker price steer you away.

Mom, the owner of the white 2008 Miata you see all over this post, has some type of freaky Miata radar. I got the car a day early, and she somehow found her way into my driveway before the person dropping it off had even left. I heard a loud wail from outside, and went to the front door.

It’s not often I get to read a viewpoint more cynical than my own.

It isn’t about making a profit, it is about using the Uber “gig” model to destroy workers rights and bring about their faux-Randian techbro paradise. The Uber project is not commercial, it is ideological. The name alone should give that away.

Farted continuously in rental Camry all the way from Montreal to NYC.

I massively recommend “The Memory Palace” by Nate DiMeo. It’s history told through small stories in an intimate way.

It’s an Audi TT, so if the check engine light isn’t on, that means its broken.

it is New Jersey so that’s really only about 30% of normal New Jersey aggressiveness.

David, I am loving these long form engineering articles. I may only be a civil engineer but reading an in-depth article about these upcoming car technologies that goes into the actual engineering behind it all instead of just stating some facts really scratches that innate curiosity itch that engineers tend to have.

further evidence for why david tracy is probably the smartest writer in automotive journalism right now. but let’s be clear that by “smartest,” i don’t mean vapid intellectualism; i mean this: david takes the science and engineering behind new materials and breaks them down in an accessible way. this is rare. really

Engineer here.
