Really?! Just goes to show how memorable I found that movie :-P

There’s been a big aversion to re-telling superhero origin stories lately, as it’s been done to death. Holland would’ve been the third movie-retelling of Spider-Man’s origin since the 2002 movie (fourth if you count Miles Morales in Spider-Verse). Same reason BvS and The Batman both skipped it for their Batmen:

Counterpoint: it was over 40 years ago that we were promised Jews In Space and damnit I want my Jews In Space

This episode yawned for me. With the exception of Episode 3 - which somehow managed to be not just a superior episode of the show but a superior episode of television in general - this show just does not do well with new material.

E3 has felt like a relic of a bygone age for the longest time. Like a dinosaur still carrying on years after the comet had crashed and the ice age had begun to set in. I understand some people have strong sentimental attachments to it, but for myself as a gamedev, I only ever went there once nearly 20 years ago, and

It seems weird to me to speculate about what might have been. This article says she was “forced” to turn down roles, like her bosses wouldn’t grant her permission or something, but that’s not the sentiment she gives in the interview. She couldn’t be in two places at once - I assume nobody wanted to go back to the days

I’ve been on-the-fence about this show the first two episodes. A lot of the new scenes had very clunky dialogue that I don’t believe would have passed muster in the game. This episode was a breath of fresh air, surprisingly dramatic and well-structured. Yes there are the big dramatic beats that I’m sure will have

I can show you 8 just from 2008 alone, for an app that got pulled before it had been up for less than a day. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/I_Am_Rich

If even 10 rich and/or dumb people buy it, that’s $20k for maybe a week’s worth or work, or less. Not a bad business model, really.

I suppose it’s easier now to just list off the famous actors who weren’t misogynistic pigs than the ones that were

The li’l fire breathing dinosaur from Super Mario World is named after the singer in Nine Inch Nails,” social media editor Jeb Biggart told me. “That feels pretty useless.”

It was more of a hypothetical, inasmuch as I’ve bought consoles in the past in order to play games I care less about than I (used to) care about Final Fantasy back in its heyday. Like you said, I don’t think the timing ever was such that a mainline FF game ever actually wound up being a forcing function for me to buy

After over 20 years of buying every mainline FF on release, FFXV was the final nail in the coffin for me. I’m not paying top dollar to be a f$@king beta tester.

The ironic thing is, once upon a time a new mainline Final Fantasy game would totally have been a good enough reason for me to purchase a new console. Square Enix has managed to squander away pretty much all of that goodwill in the past couple decades though.

Jewish Elvis rubbed me the wrong way. I guess because it didn’t feel like Sarah Sherman was doing anything other than Sarah Sherman mugging at the camera and directly naming Jewish stereotypes in an Elvis-like costume. Maybe if she had bothered to do at least a half-assed Elvis impression I’d feel differently? I don’t

“Well well well, if it isn’t the consequences of my own actions”

Look, I genuinely love Henry Cavil for being by all accounts a truly enthusiastic, kind-hearted uber-nerd who also just happens to be one of the most shredded, square-jawed manly men alive. But there is a multitude of movies and TV shows now demonstrating that for all of the might he can wield, the man cannot act his

I really wish they’d just rebranded it. I hate that every time I read about something depraved and hollow on “TLC” I remember The Learning Channel of my youth and how it used to actually be about actual learning and am forcibly reminded about how much we suck as a species.

His bit with Chloe Fineman on Weekend Update was pretty great, I thought. I don’t think I’ve seen that pairing before. Yeah it was a pretty basic premise to get Fineman’s impressions in, but it was also really well-executed and pretty f-ing hilarious.

After Ke Huy Quan’s killer performance in Everything Everywhere All At Once, the only responsible thing they can do is make this a movie about Indy reconnecting with and passing his adventurer’s fedora on to Short Round.
