When they were in the parking garage and Jimmy said “I know that was hard” and I imagined her saying “that’s the problem, it wasn’t hard, it was easy”, but instead she just gazed at him for a moment and smiled and softly kissed him. And that’s why this show is unlike anything else on television.
I felt the same way. Right away I was thinking “man, they just went ahead and hit the reset button on all of those cliffhangers as fast as they could”.
I don’t know what genius inspired sticking her on a screen with Martin and Short, but she’s a nigh perfect foil for them.
Rhea Seehorn has managed to actually make me care about entertainment awards. If she doesn’t win I might be vaguely upset or something.
I’ve never thought highly of Kevin Smith’s oeuvre but you know what? This looks like exactly the right kind of stupid he does well, and I’m happy that he’s getting to make this film and have fun with his friends and send another love-letter to his fans. As for me, I’ll watch it when it’s streaming for free on HBO or…
I am that guy, and thank you for the kind words! I’ve passed them on to the rest of the team. :-)
I worked in the studio that made LEGO Star Wars 2 for the Nintendo DS, a notoriously glitchy game that wasn’t nearly as well received as the console versions were. One of our devs - to this day I don’t know who - emailed a site like Kotaku and sent them a rant against the publisher, blaming them for all of the…
They somehow managed to make Qui-Gon’s appearance at the very end as much empty box-ticking as it was when Yoda explained about it to Obi-Wan at the end of the prequels
They made 6 seasons of Xena
I sat through one episode and that was plenty. I don’t know if there’s a name for the genre of comedy where “jokes” is replaced by “mind-numbing rambling that’s only meant to be funny by virtue of commitment to the bit”, but there ought to be, so I can avoid it.
I can’t stand how much of the plot of these games hinge on trying to shock or subvert the expectations of fans. People are already speculating that Tifa will die in this one instead of Aerith, etc. and I’m just like “who cares”. Just tell me a good story, not a story where I’m imagining the creator of it sitting…
That’s not really a plot hole... they were focused on surviving the zombie-populated countryside, and they often had a strained relationship. Neither was probably thinking much past getting to their next goal, and expecting to be rid of the other when they got there. It’s also not like there were public swimming pools…
I feel this way about how Steve Rogers’ catchphrase “I can do this all day” somehow broke through the fourth wall and made it into the mainstream, even though he’s ostensibly only ever said it in the middle of a 1:1 fight without many witnesses. I kind of let it slide for the musical since that was such an obvious…
Agreed, she was absolutely brilliant. I was afraid because of the very specialized and improv-heavy nature of that movie that it might not be much of a launching point for her career; glad to see I was wrong.
For all of the weird and completely unbelievable stuff that happens on the show, I like to think the “handoff” of the automatic rifle was exactly how something like that would probably go down in real-life. Aside from being utterly hilarious, it really lent itself to the sense that nobody had a plan, and that everyone…
The politics of this season feel so watered-down. Just about every episode you could count on the cops to do some banter that superficially both-sides some politically charged issue, like an intern in the writer’s room went and bullet-pointed the “controversy” section on Wikipedia, then it cuts to the next scene…
Here’s where I plug The Wrong Guy to fans of Dave Foley everywhere. It’s my go-to movie that nobody heard of that’s just joke-after-joke stupid-hilarious. Kevin has a brief appearance as well.
At least this show likes to give its actors magnum opus scenes before offing them. I’m still optimistic Kim survives but if she doesn’t I’m sure Rhea Seehorn will at least get some excellent Emmy fodder.
