I’m no biologist, but I’m pretty sure that if you randomly wiped out half the bacteria in a human body, that human body ain’t gonna go on living.

I still fondly remember the code sheet that came with Sim City that was printed in black on dark red paper (hence photocopy-proof), or the spells you had to create in King’s Quest III by feeding in the steps line by line from pages in the manual that were supposedly taken from the wizard’s grimoire.

Agreed, it was surprisingly good, played entirely straight-laced by Chris Evans and Chyler Leigh, without too much winking at the camera and some pretty funny jokes to boot.

Well this is depressing

Or, like, a supervillain who destroyed an entire mainland U.S. city with a nuclear weapon

I, too, was a first-day purchaser who came out overall disappointed with the plot of Final Fantasy XV beta version

I would complain about putting spoilers right in the headline alongside a picture of the couple being referenced if I was more invested in these characters or their relationships.

What I basically learned from reading this and purchasing FFXV on its release date is that I should wait four months (or more) after the release of the next one before purchasing it. I don’t play FF games to be a beta tester...

I will never see eye-to-eye with people who cherish FFVII as much as they do. Speaking as someone who played through it many dozens of times over the years.

Who could’ve imagined that a Kickstarter with only concept art and a tiny company that had only ever done board-game conversions wouldn’t pan out at creating a Tactics-level RPG...

The prologue is fantastic but I think is even superseded by the first five minutes or so of Zebes, when you’re exploring a derelict planet, basically waiting for the game to begin, wondering what’s going on... this part is masterfully crafted: there’s a storm when you first arrive, the music is vague and uneasy, the

I played the heck out of that game as a kid. It was lonely and isolating and every time you ran into a new type of Metroid it was scary as hell. Sure we’ve found plenty of ways to improve on the formula in 20+ years, but they squeezed a whole lot of lemonade out of that 8-bit, 4 MHz lemon.

Ah, I played the hell out of your translation. And was subsequently super disappointed by the PS translation. Thank you for your work!

A fan translation exists! As well as for SaGa 3. A little sleuthing on the Internet will get you some inexpensive ways to play it on your device. I haven’t played 3 yet but 2 is a very faithful adaptation to the original, with some added bonus mechanics/content that don’t disrupt the main game if you don’t want them

To be nitpicky, FFIII had at least four vehicles: the original airship you ram into the rock, the Enterprise, the Nautilus, and the Invincible.

Am I the only one who read the title and at first thought this was an article about the SaGa series?

I’m on my second playthrough of SaGa 2, and it’s a very faithful adaptation of the original with a bunch of little new features and extras. (It misses out on some of what made the original great, but it’s about as good of a 3D remake as you could ask for.) The fan translation is kind of weak but it’s complete.

The music on these websites is inevitably so much better than what ships in the game. See also Sword of Mana:
