Well, with the exception of Joe Rogan. He has been far more successful in podcasting, standup and UFC commentating. He’s been pretty open about having zero interest in acting over the last 20 years and did Fear Factor for the money. He’s had complete autonomy for many years now.

“Woke culture” will never actually silence guys like Rogan, but we do have to say, if white men shut up for a bit, it’d be pretty damn peaceful.

Yeah, how is this not a net positive? I get the av club hates him because he was a guest on Joe Rogan and will therefore spin everything negatively, but please let this be the final nail in the bitcoin NFT coffin.

this guy has done like 8 cancellable things now. where are the woke police when you need em?

The degree to which people are invested in attacking and defending Elon Musk is fucking bizarre.

This comment section is hilarious. Just the sheer amount of people gatekeeping what punk rock is “supposed” to be, while simultaneously scratching their heads at the idea of an old-school punk rocker being... anti-censorship?? Who could’ve seen that one coming?

Actually it does, but no one here is interested in that.

Well, the entire thread is silly, but that’s Laserface’s thing.  The message in the Boy Scouts episode was “no matter how wrong we think they might be, it isn’t right for us to force them to think our way. It’s up to us to persuade...”  Pretty telling, to want to bury that message.

So who is Obama’s lecture for?

what the fuck are you serious

Yes, by Sam barsanti. I'm no cleese fan, but this article is toxic and awful. I wonder why I do it to myself. I used to like av club.

I had taken a lot of time off of a large swath of the internet until recently, and it's articles like this that were the catalyst for that; the opinion of Cleese is disappointing, yes, but the tone of this article is just...toxic. If this is how Barsanti is in person, he must be an absolutely exhausting and awful

The AVClub would like everyone to know, and click and refresh the page repeatedly in order to engage with and load ad content for an article about literally who fucking cares as long as it gets clicks

“Opinions on here range from mine all the way to not mine!”

I do seriously wonder what Graham Chapman, Mr. “Anything for him but mindless good taste”, would be making of all this.

Ah, do you recall the good old days when it was only the Catholic church that was condemning movies before seeing them? Simpler times.

A studio meeting over a new script sometime next week... “I see your script included a disabled character. Can we change that character to someone else? Because we just don’t want to be bothered with the activist headaches.”

Learn to listen to other people’s perspectives for fuck’s sake

Oh yeah, you’re also ‘virtue signaling’. Now if you’ll kindly hobble onto mein eisenbahn?

The most fucked up part of this whole faux-representation bullshtick is that when you actually step back and look at it, you’re basically saying you are incapable of enjoying movies as fiction, you need the added bonus of real life trauma as experienced by the actors otherwise you won’t like the film.
