I mean don’t put your hands on someone if you aint ready to get your shit rocked. And if dude is nice enough to stop rocking your shit, maybe back away instead of walking back into his fists.

If Afolabi was as violent as they said, he would have wrecked a lot of people’s shit. Instead he had the good sense to record all of these interactions, and the patience to keep jumping through their hoops to deal with them on their own bullshit racist terms.

Kanye seems to be caught up in that “thinking the opposite of what people are used to means I’m thinking freely” mentality that most people grow out of in adolescence. That doesn’t make you a free thinker, just a contrarian. You’re still just as concerned with what other people think.

those three republican fucks are just hemming and hawing before they ultimately vote to acquit.

fuck them.

“You are one of my favorite writers [...] please stop writing the way you always have.”

I would say that it is just as important as his legacy as a basketball player and his legacy as a father/husband. It is an important, un-erasable part of Kobe’s biography and choosing to omit it, as so many tributes have, is just as much of a choice as choosing to bring attention to it.

Yeah, at the very least that didn’t fit into a story alongside mistakes like showing a video of the wrong Black guy.

That’s what I was wondering, too. I can understand why she made a “mistake” from the aspect of crossing a specific company policy regarding screenshots, but that’s not really pertinent to Kobe’s death.

In what the fuck way did Sonmez make a mistake? Ifl Michael Harriot, but don't act like Kobe didn't rape someone.

My wife was sexually assaulted when she was 18 to this day it effects her day to day life. When I do overnight shifts she puts a chair in front of the door while she’s sleeping she’s jumpy at every little noise and has to check our closet before she goes to sleep. If that piece of human garbage who did that to her

I agree with much of what you said. I do think it’s important to acknowledge that his statement re: consent was carefully worded so as not to acknowledge that he understood those things. If you look at these sentences from his statement, they pretty much tell the tale. So without further ado, a way-too-involved close

The sad truth is they were a bump in his history. Kobe has been fine since the rape charges got dropped. Many people don’t know or forgot he was a rapist.

If I’m being honest, I have a hard time seeing the good. I don’t think I’ve looked at a picture of Kobe Bryant in the last 15 years without my first thought being “rapist.” Lots of men move on and forget. Women, particularly those who have been subjected to sexual violence at the hands of men, don’t necessarily just

It’s frustrating because when someone dies of course u want to focus and remember the good. I have no problem with that, but let’s not gloss over the bad.

Yes. This case is one of the best examples out there of a victim doing everything right in the aftermath of an assault and still getting totally chewed up by the system. She told a friend. She went to the hospital. She got an exam done. The exam documented evidence, including bruising around her throat (Bryant choked

A least u mentioned the rape, but let’s not act like this was a she said he said case. There was a lot of damning evidence against Kobe. He clearly raped her and u can admit that and still talk about the good he did and the legacy of his career. People are complicated and we can be honest about the good and the bad.
