It's pointless now, but to a 70s russian audiance? Japan seemed ridiculously high tech and futuristic to them.

That is the only game I've ever played where I started off mocking it for being so bad, and ended up with it being one of my favorite games of all time.

The movie isn't about capitalism. It's about North Korea/other dictatorships. The point is, if someone takes over they'll just become as corrupt. The only way out is to destroy the whole thing.
