Folx, I’m falling in love. If you ever wanted to combine the gloom of the original Killzone with gameplay from Titanfall and F.E.A.R. as well as Doom and its neo-retro children—and toss in some immaculate vibes from 1995’s Ghost in the Shell for good measure—then let me tell you about Sprawl.”

It’s because they’re both Chinese. Chinese game makers are amazingly good at making astoundingly pretty clone games with absolutely no soul. They get the shell polished to an amazing degree but there’s nothing underneath it because they’re just mindlessly going through the motions. You just have to look at Kantai

Yep. I noped out of both games when I dug deeper too.

It’s a genre. It describes games that are like the fast-paced FPS games of the 90s. Dusk, Amid Evil, Boltgun, Prodeus, Turbo Overkill. All modern examples of the genre. But they’re in the vein of Doom, Quake, Unreal Tournament, Duke Nukem etc.

Like it or not, it’s as accepted as Metroidvania or Soulslike. And the games

Anything that’s a callback to 90s FPS. Pretty simple.

This is a super common descriptor. I don’t love it but it certainly wasn’t made up here.

I’m at a loss trying to explain how this horrific poster could have been released to media. The backwards red car right in the foreground is reason enough for pause, nevermind the multitudes of other errors and weirdness - did people look at this thing and go like, “naaah, they’ll never notice that”, or what?

So the article was also written by AI?

yikes that’s quite a glaring error lol

As a heads up, the lil dude giving the thumbs up is Vault Boy, named after Vault-Tec. The Pip-Boy is the lil computer thing the Fallout protags have on their arms

Excellent piece. Good to hear that the Deck performance has been great. Are you running at stock TDP settings? How much time are you getting on a charge or do you generally leave it plugged in?

This is kind of worded like it’s a decision from Larian, but I have to assume it’s really Xbox seeing all the BG3 hype and deciding to change their policy so they can get BG3 out faster.

If a game is competitive, then hacking is bad. If it’s a single player game then you aren’t damaging anyone else’s enjoyment with your mods. And this game has been made mod-friendly because the devs like fans who create their own content and increase the game’s lifespan.

You know, I can just GO to nexus and not have to read through a slideshow.

Did you read any of the mod descriptions? Or check any of the comments on Nexus? Several of these mods do NOT do what you just said they do, and several others are completely broken because they were designed for Early Access and never updated for Full Release.

I’m in the opposite camp, I’ve been waiting 10 years for a new AC. The newest Bethesda RPG can hang out for a while until I’ve kicked enough robots off of cliffs.

A new Baldurs Gate, a new Armored Core and a new Alan Wake all in the same-ish timeframe.

The article was so good til we get to Female protagonists area and below.  Then it becomes typical holier than though kotaku trash

Why is there this bizzare tendency to try to overthink things in every case like this. Its an action game featuring a hypersexualised female protagonist that constantly spouts stereotypical “this is how women talk right?” stuff every five seconds. There’s no deeper meaning, there’s no reclaiming shit. If you like the
