@Seeräuber Jenny: In the end, it was b/c of my children that I made the decisions I did. I was essentially working to pay other people to bring up my kids (isn't that a line in a movie somewhere?).
@chrizzle: 3 years in, I cannot think of worse fate than getting back the life I had. Working all the time. Medicating on purchased status symbols. Never seeing my children.

@vinylrake: I have 2 kids (4 and 9). So far we have spent the day playing slot cars, watching trashy movies and opining on Lifehacker (well, the kids didn't seem too interested in the LH bit).
@redfalconf35: I understand what your saying, but think about this way. Not not becoming financially independent of third parties (you employer, government support etc) I think the risk of ending up on a friends couch is greater than knowing from experience how to generate an income on your own.

The biggest issue with writing and the geek / nerd in me is my inherent perfectionism. Wanting (in my mind) everything I write / produce to be the best ever, or at least really good.
I really wish i could get this stuff to work . I've even bought off the shelf versions of these and still nothing.
