that E30/E39 combo would not be a great way to start. way too complicated for a first time (or even third) and it’s still an auto. I’d look for an E21 or a 2002.

KBB has never been accurate. ever. VMR used to be good but it really depends on a bunch of factors. plus, as cars get older the range in value widens.

a faded dark red 1961 356B ten years ago. pretty much stock. it had sat for a few decades but ran and drove. in NY so a little rust but not unreasonable. only $7300. had money down with the lot but the seller who had it on consignment there sold it out from under both lot & me. sigh.

the TMU thing is common in a BMW of that vintage. the odo has crappy plastic gears. good luck finding a replacement or a rebuild. my E30 has had 146k miles on it since 2009.

you can't get a front plate from the license plate office. want a front one? go to Graceland. your tag will read ELVIS1. it's just great to not have to get anything inspected anymore.

omg it's beautiful. but it's 40k. nope. can everybody keep saying E30s are worth a ton? my E30 is sitting dusty in Memphis. yeah, it's a 318iC but it's so fun.
