I didn't have MTV or cable TV in my house growing up, but I remember a local TV station would do a top 40 music videos countdown show during the week, 5 days with 8 videos a day. And I would say that didn't happen till 1984? I remember seeing the Ghostbusters music video so it had to be around 1984.
