It’s about exposure to nuclear family constructs.
Not all, but many of the kids we volunteered with were from single parent homes. This was the 80's-90's - the city was still healing from the riots and even kids who had parents around were losing them to drug and gang violence. They just weren’t exposed to that

From Bloomfield! I went to Teaneck HS prom in 2000!

Thank you for this, it speaks to me deeply. I grew up in North Jersey with parents who taught and volunteered in the Newark school system 20 minutes east of our house, but used their income to send me to Catholic schools 20 minutes west. Square between two worlds.

Now playing

Many years ago I worked at WDW Magic Kingdom. Every part of the park has a medley on a one hour loop. I worked main gate and Main St. parade control. A one hour loop 6- 10 hour shifts for 8 months is a lot of cartoon music.
To this day I know every trill of “Surry With The Fringe On The Top”

I love Kanopy. Pro-tip, many Universitiy libraries have memberships as well, so even if you don’t have a library card (which everyone should), anyone who kept a .edu address from their alma mater can access.

On my first pass I thought this said Primark and I almost hitchhiked to Staten Island Mall because I have a shameful weakness for fast fashion. But Poshmark is great too. I just love to see Serena getting her coints and making a difference. Winning Everyday.

I registered for bath sheets when I bought my home. Best decision I ever made. I got big tetas and standard towels aren’t big enough to roll and tuck while I do my hair and makeup.

Listen, Aldi knows it’s core market and we ain’t it. You know who is? Moms. Specifically my 65 yr old mom who is not cool enough for Trader Joe’s, too liberal for Walmart, and likes to tell people how much she paid for things. She drank a glass of Aldi chocolate wine or their $2.49 pink zin while giggling on the phone

Did you see what she did with the advance money, though? Can’t find the exact quote but it was akin to ”I just spend it on rent and shopping and stuff and at one point I was just giving it away to friends”. Like, girrrrrrl, if you knew you weren’t going to write the book howbout you bank that shit so you don’t look

I can’t give you enough stars for this. Totally fell into the rabbit hole on this story last night and spent way too much time reading multiple articles, twitter, and reddit. It just kept getting jucier.

So cranky that i’ll be out of town for this, because I’d totally be down. Just sent the link to a bunch of my colleagues in the hopes that one goes and reports back.

haha, always. we’re one of the 100 largest employers in New York. May the odds be ever in your favor ;)

I’m a disability coordinator. I totally agree with taking sick time as needed, particularly for the reasons stated above. A number of my clients are immunosuppressed or are caretakers to elderly parents or small children. I took a sick day recently and a new-parent colleague thanked me
I totally disagree with faking

The #dogwood52 hashtag is pretty active on instagram. I’m finding it hard to make connections in other insta photo communities like JJ and Grammar Collective, so I'm looking forward to seeing how this goes.

I basically stopped breathing at the tweet that said “deviled eggs and foot juice”.  So true, so so true.

Looking forward to watching this.

Scottish Laura is adorable and i detest how they called her “Old Laura “ once the new girl came in. This show tried hard to cast her as a spinster so I was glad she made it to the end.

I use PopcornTime (app) or HDGo (website) but you might find a lot of episodes on DailyMotion also. I’ve been using DailyMotion the AU and NZ versions of Married At First Sight (which are BANANAS!) and I’m pretty pleased with the quality.

I’m excited for you to get Season 4, because Samira Mighty (red swimsuit in the header photo) is fabulous and I want to be her best friend. I also use the phrase “do-bits society” at least weekly.
If you value your sanity, do not watch the Australian version. The season was amazing but the fallout after airing was

Not prepared to doxx myself but i’ll happily share the vendor we use: http://www.caregiversoncall.com/
Share the info with your HR Benefits Manager!
I’m also a huge fan of Health Advocate (http://www.healthadvocate.com), which employees and their families can use to understand their benefits, find a provider, clarify
