I recently heard a RadioLab podcast titled “Fu-Go” on how the Japanese used balloons and the air currents to drop bombs in the US. Balloons sent from the island of Japan, not ships close to the US, that traveled all the way across the Pacific Ocean. I had never heard of that and it blew my mind.
