I have a PHEV, and I use the slowest lane and try to keep a decent MPG. Nine times out of ten if you are going the speed limit in the slow lane it gets you the middle finger around here. And the damn speed limit is 70. What a joke. We should all be doing 55 max and getting actual mileage rather than footage.

I think the issue here lies in “Distracted Driving” makes up over 20% of all crashes vs “Speeding” only making up a very small subset under 5%.

Long story but ended up w/ a feral.  He was likely 8-9 years old when adopted, never been pet before.  Yes, that’s drool.  He did it the first handful of times he ever got some good pets.

I’m so glad Janet is back safe! I always worry so much if I can’t find Calvin after the cleaners come and accidentally leave the doors open too long. Here’s my pretty boy.

This is now the cat thread. Post your kitties.

Late model Dodge Durangoes have a razor sharp parrot beak shaped edge on each tail light that is exposed when the hatch is open. This leads to terrible arm gouges when loading/unloading stuff from the rear hatch if you aren’t super careful to avoid. The Durango forums are full of injuries caused by this. I put a

The problem with that is that asshole drivers will still want to be assholes- as we saw in the Tesla settings that literally let you break the law.

Yeah fuck that. The day you force everyone into AV5 vehicles is the day we should just all give up and let the robots take over.

So what you’re saying is that there will be a point at which I’m driving ONLY 30 year-old cars.

Let’s not forget this little chestnut from 14 years ago:

Does accumulating wealth make you an unhappy ghoul, or do you have to start out as an unhappy ghoul to think accumulating wealth makes sense in the first place?

That initially shocked me, but then I remember a certain relative telling me he pays over $800/mo for a used Explorer, so actually it doesn’t surprise me at all...
