6.1 for a base macan to 60 vs 7.6 for a base Camry...

Having driven both, the Macan is a much better ride. Especially because they’re almost always equipped with the air suspension. Which gives you more than extra ride height. And the Golf R is low. Scraping the high parking lot entrances and speed bumps in the area are part of why I ditched my car

Nah. Porsche exists to make cars that car people with needs beyond a two-seater want to drive, and have fun doing it.

Why would you ask if someone would buy a Porsche over a VW, if the money wasn’t an issue (which presumably it is not)?  Golfs are great cars.  Zero argument here.  But you can get the same functionality in almost any car at a lower price point, up to a minimum limit.

My mom takes the macan for hiking sometimes. the Golf R is too low for that shit. The Golf R also has less storage space in the back too mainly because it’s shorter, and can’t fit the gardening shit or 2x4s nearly as well.

Why do people buy expensive clothes over cheap ones?

I think that’s why the Porsche is so successful. It does actually manage to inject quite a bit of “Porscheness” into the Macan, in a way that BMW, Mercedes and Audi just can’t match with their similarly sized hot versions. They aren’t just much better to drive than GLCs, Q5s and X3s / X4s, the level of customization

I feel like this statement applies to basically every car Porsche makes. You want to hate them because they are the default, and then you drive one and realize why they are the default.

Haha, you mean because you wish it were always on or never on?

Why are you grabbing gears while correcting oversteer?

The Macan feels a lot more like a luxury sedan than the Golf does. It’s subjective, but I think the ride is better over bad pavement, even with the big Porsche wheels. And the Macan is surprisingly agile.

A few years ago my friend bought a Macan GTS and let me drive it. It was maddeningly, obnoxiously competent and good to drive. I wanted to hate it (Because honestly, fuck crossovers) but I objectively could not.

I also forgot to mention the BMW X4 M Competition, which I actually drove somewhat recently. (That’s what the comment section is for!)

Can we please stop with throwing out some sort of disclaimer about these not being “purist” Porsches every time there’s a discussion of the Macan or Cayenne? Porsche has been making crossovers for nearly TWO DECADES! The money they make from the Macan and Cayenne pays for everything else Porsche does, much like a Divis

What part of the Bay Area do you live in?

Tesla’s ‘profitability’ hinges solely on the fact that every other carmaker on the planet - especially the germans - have collectively stuck their head in the stand.  It’s stupid to think thats going to continue and tesla’s car’s, when you take the electric aspect away - are pretty bland.

Not trying to be Hot Take Guy here, but I can’t help but think of the old adage of pride comes before the fall with Tesla...or specifically Musk. No, they’re not going to suddenly fail or disappear but I think Elon has already turned off a lot of potential buyers with his asshole routine, which is happening with far

From previous discussions, if they are able to sell the car at a lower cost than otherwise and still eek out a quarterly profit, that shows exactly how the regulatory credit trading is supposed to work. Basically they subsidize the cleaner/more efficient vehicles with money from the dirtier/less efficient ones so that

My understanding of the middle-row seats in the new Sienna is that they now come standard with side airbags, rendering them unremovable. BUT! They have the most fore-aft travel of any minivan seat - 25 inches. So it looks like they scoot right up to the back of the front seat, so at least there’s that.

The bridge console is great in our RX350. I think you’ll find it is actually much better than the old one.
