Wait this comes out THIS November? I can’t wait for Thor: Ragnarok.
Wait this comes out THIS November? I can’t wait for Thor: Ragnarok.
So even though the latest cinematic incarnation of the Man of Steel has his own excellent theme,
I think the “everyone’s too goody goody” criticism really only crops up in comparison to DS9. It’s not really something I see as a problem within TNG itself; DS9's writers simply took a different approach with their cast. They both work brilliantly for their respective shows.
Data remains the most sympathetic autistic character who has ever been on screen. His struggles to cope with human empathy and custom with no natural touchstone and only his intellect to learn by rote what most humans learn by instinct inspired me as an autistic person to become the adult about whom people say…
No love for the episode Masks, where Data gets possessed by a series of alien personalities out of a satellite?
I still love how there were no consequences to this episode. Riker and Worf alone probably ate half of the ship’s crew but, no, everyone’s totally cool at the end! The only casualty is Troi’s free time due to the vast amounts of therapy that Barclay will need.
Despite it’s issues, I enjoyed the first episode and I would consider watching more. Well, except for the fact that I’m not going to pay a dime to watch one TV show on CBS All Access.
My heart breaks for Sonequa Martin-Green. She’s a fine actress, gets a lead in a super-high-profile series, and they saddle her with an Idiot Character. WTF were they thinking? She runs off the bridge in a crisis situation to call the guy who was her schoolteacher when she was 8 and ask for help. Assaults her captain…
Sisko (black, racist commander with PTSD)
You can practically hear some knee-knocking halfwit exec saying “but if no one is connected to Kirk or Spock, how will people knows is about the Star Treks???”
Did anyone else just find Burnham unlikable? She’s both stoic because of the Vulcan-raising (and yet Sarek was much more open and less rigid despite being an actual Vulcan) and then also heavily impulsive. It was hard to root for her because she just instantly committed mutiny and was a warmonger out of bigotry. It…
I thought it was pretty dreadful. It seems to be carving out its own continuity that has nothing to do with TOS or the reboot. It was all over the place and was cut in a weird, choppy way that was unpleasant to watch. Also, it would have pissed me off that it only gave me the first part of a two-part episode if I’d…
Wait, so someone who is ready for command of her own ship knocks out her captain and tries to mutiny the ship?
They just straight up desecrated corpses. I mean... they planted a bomb on a corpse while the Klingons were gathering their dead. That’s a literal war crime, committed by the Federation, resulting in cheers from the crew. I liked the episodes well enough, but Jesus.
“Well, we didn’t physically see them, but the gorgeous design of the bombs let us know who it was.”
I really REALLY wanted it to be good. First Star Trek series on TV in almost a decade. But what a total mess. Terrible writing, terrible acting, and with all the dutch angles and lense flares, I can’t help but think it was actually their intention to make this show look as much like Battlefield Earth as possible.…
Yes, but deporting gang members is so much harder. I mean first you have to find them, and sometimes, they shoot back at you. It’s just so much easier and safer for ICE agents to deport people with no criminal records. Also, if you deport enough regular people without criminal records, the ones that are left will be…
I say this about every ICE agent: if you don’t condone these actions, quit. By continuing to wear that badge, you are complicit with every action your brethren take; just following orders is what they said at Nuremberg, too. At some point, you will be hunted just as they were.
That’s not normal human behavior. That’s sociopath behavior. I guarantee these ICE agents are enjoying every damn moment of their jobs because they enjoy ruining lives legally.
But of course they did. Because making sure harmless undocumented people who are just trying to save their son’s life are harassed, arrested, and deported is way more important than finding and deporting criminals, gang members, or human traffickers. /s
