But it still isn’t absolute.

The “disclaimer” has been set through supreme court precedent dozens of times.

Hate Speech does encourage violence. That’s why it’s hate speech.

It must take active work to continue to be this ignorant.

That’s the entire point of this word. The literal configuration of letters isn’t offensive, it’s the centuries-old history of racism, violence, and dehumanization that goes along with it.

It’s hate speech. That’s different, man.

You say that like being offended when white people use it isn’t reasonable.

Exactly. What people don’t seem to understand is that the first amendment is in no way absolute. The purpose is to allow you to speak out against the government, not a free pass to say whatever the hell you want wherever you want.

Maybe the first amendment should protect them from legal action, but definitely not from loss of jobs or scholarships or ability to stay at that university or from getting their ass kicked.

I for one love rubbing my face on greasy food and do not have a lap to set things on.

Oh I see. I’m guessing the ID in question is a non-driver’s ID.

This is what happens when we label people at random based on perceived political beliefs. People like this idiot try to argue against basic human decency just to one up the other side.

It is when the student repeatedly asks them not to.

That is literally the exact opposite situation.

I don’t think anyone is actually saying that the professor should have been legally forced to say the preferred pronouns, but the university ABSOLUTELY has the right to discipline or fire him for intentionally disrespecting and belittling a student over and over.

Don’t forget that they’re also rich.

South Carolina has an ID specifically for black people? Maybe I’m reading this wrong.

Intentionally insulting a student is not free speech.
