I know they did. That went by quick as part of the dialogue. In here, not only is it a hack joke, it’s longer and it kills the pace trying to wink at the camera. That’s what makes it cringe instead of merely whatever.

Black Panther’s direction was not that distinctive, and while I’d say that Waititi and Ragnarok, Gunn and GotG, and even Whedon with the Avengers, you could say the directors’ mark was clearly visible, I’d argue it’s because their style is already very close to Marvel’s default style.

There’s always other AAA games where gameplay isn’t just an afterthought. They don’t get as much press as cinematic games, or The Ubisoft Game, but they’re still AAA. For example, Nioh 2 was easily the best game I played all year.

That comment just reminded me of what Mass Effect did with its squad mates nearly 15 years ago, and tbh the gameplay in Mass Effect wasn’t that good either.
