Came here to post this car, leaving satisfied. These are so cool, and they sound so fantastic, I wouldn’t wish the ownership experience of these cars on my worst enemy. From what I gather, no matter what you do, they spend far more days in the shop than they could on the road...it sounds like mostly pure misery before

I prefer the smaller prettier Golf R 2-door, but prettier

VW never selling the Scirocco in the US is a shame.

The Golf R station wagon. Never understood why VW never made the effort. This thing would have sold like hot cakes. I would have definitely bought one

That’s where I’m at now, too: I’ve sworn off them. I had to go through two engines and one transmission on that car, and when it started puffing smoke at startup again I was just done with it.

GTI was the first thing that came to mind too, But if he’s got access to charging electric may be the way to go... quick, great for the city

I once submitted to this column to replace my Mk6 and the answers were from an old 3 series to a Corvette. Bought a Mk7.5 and never looked back lol.

“I wish we had more hot hatches in the USA”

*finger on monkey’s paw curls in*

Hyundai presents a 4,000 lb vehicle that resembles a hot hatch in pictures but in fact has acute giantism

I feel like you are making some assumptions about my sexuality there, but okay. If you want.

Weird fanboi flex.

It looks like all of the other Teslas except the yet to be released child’s toy.

The Model X is FUGLY. Always has been. I love EVs, and wouldn’t be paid to drive one of these.

Yeah, I cannot honestly say the last time I’ve seen just an average nobody with a beat-to-shit 90's hatchback driving like a prick. It’s such an outdated trope. Like you said it’s pretty much entirely Focus ST owners and WRX people now.

Let’s be real, that thing had perennial wet carpet since it left the factory.

GTIIATA

Honestly i would recommend another GTI. The Mk7 model is vastly better than the MK6. The DSG is great. Get one and give it a rear sway bar, good tires, and aa Cobb AP with the EQT stage1 tune and youll have a car thats quite quick with over 300hp and that can get high 30s mpgs, while seating 4 and having cargo space.

I’ll happily give it  a new home if you don’t want it

Now playing

It was from a series of commercials when the MkV came out, and it looks like a proto-Funko Pop (so, just a stupid display piece).

Thanks! For us, an EV for our second car makes sense; we have a Kia Telluride for road trips, and hauling both kids (and sometimes their friends) and dog around, but the bulk of our driving is just my wife’s grocery runs, ferrying kids to baseball, tennis, taking the family out to dinner/movies, to the park, or the
