Hehe, looks like Tom’s column is riling up all of us that are involved in Automotive! On another note, Mmmm... Caterham.

Yup, and pre-production vehicles that are lovingly made at 5% of normal speed will just not flush out enough of the issues. Not enough of them are made to flush out the car-design issues, and they’re not made fast enough to flush out the full-speed paint, subassembly, assembly issues.

I thnk auto brakin shd be standaard.

From an efficiency standpoint, I am for it. On my commute, I witness enough people not paying attention to driving that we will reduce inefficiencies caused by accidents (and all of their rippled effects) if this is instituted.

Good car, needed a trans at 75k..

Very weird to see the comment section in almost total agreement that Tom is wrong about this.

As a fellow Engineer, this was my comment as well. You really have to work in the industry to understand all the crap with suppliers etc that leads to constant changes. In some cases, I’ve seen monthly changes for a new product in production, because of how rushed the project was in the first place.

For once I have to disagree with a McParland column.

Every single vehicle I’ve owned was at least in it’s third model year. As someone who works in the automotive industry as an Engineer, there are literally hundreds of changes that can take place in one year. Whether they are because of design issues or just updates, you NEVER want the first model year, unless its an

Of course you have to drive them both and if you like them the same, buy the cheaper one! But I think you’ll like the RWD G70 better on a sporty test drive.

6-speed. As was my M235i. I loath automatics with the blinding fury of 1000 scorned women, and I wouldn’t touch a DSG with somebody else’s money, even if it shifted 10 seconds faster than I can.

I’ve got a 2018 GTI Autobahn, and my partner at work has a Stinger (GT). They are very different cars in terms of welll ... everything except somewhat similar price and technology. They both have all the cool technical bells and whistles. I’ve got a Stage 1 Uni on my GTI, but the Stinger is still faster in a straight

I think the buyer is missing the basic psychology here. Do you want a doctor who is your equal? Or do you want a doctor who is smarter than you? If I am hiring an architect, I definately want someone who has better taste than me. The Volvo, especially the interior, screams “architect’s car.” The Land Rover would also
