“Swipe to shift.” Never in my youth did I think I’d see such a monstrosity *throws up*
So basically, we finally have a convertible / manual option for the Supra GR. I don’t even care about what the actual driving experience is like, I’m all for another manual vehicle, especially a European convertible. More power to BMW for still trying to please the 1% purist population !
Technically, this falls under the definition of “driven,” but I have driven an older Can-Am Spyder with a manual gearbox, and boy was it a weird experience. You sit on it like a TRUE motorcycle and have handlebars for the steering, but it’s an absolute workout trying to steer two wide car-tires using a handlebar, and…
High-revving N/A engines, lightweight, simplicity (little to no nannies), RWD and manual transmissions were the reason I switched over to SuperSport bikes and (mostly) moved away from “car culture.” I wish we could have cheap sportscars that followed the sportbike formula, but we’ll never see such days again due to…
Social media and motorcycles are a bad combination, just like drinking and riding / driving. This really makes the rest of us sportbike riders look bad and troublesome, even if we take our demons to the track and the street use is limited to commuting. Guess it’s worth that fat paycheck from YouTube ain’t it, when you…
And why does that get you worked up ? JDM has now just become synonymous with the overall car culture / fandom, and the label gets thrown around for fun all the time (like VTEC and all Hondas lol). Here you go, find some real hobbies and learn to live a little...
Ok, but it is a low-mile, not-rusted (read: CLEAN OLD SCHOOL JDM) that looks to be maintained, with a rare-to-find manual transmission. This had to have been the last CR-V generation with 3 pedals. So...It’s probably deserving of whatever bidding price it’s currently sitting on. If I really wanted one of these, I can…
Also, with a manual transmission. Because the current crop of Mustangs with the Tremec manuals were just starting to become even better (after they moved on from their live-axle days). Considering that this is the only ‘car’ that Ford continues to build, and a bonafide sportscar at that, a continuous run of V8s paired…
I agree, as long as it doesn’t have body cancer, it can be repaired and should be preserved. My father just bought a brand new Acura MDX, and he’s still impressed by the ‘thud’ of my M5's doors and trunk. My daily is my MK7 Golf R (stage 2) which is very well built (in Germany), but even that doesn’t have what you…
Mostly stock is the way to go with these M cars, that’s how I feel. They’re so well-balanced for all kinds of tasks, right out the box, that tweaking them in any direction usually comes with compromises. I just have an exhaust for sound, short shifter, thinner drop-in AFE filters and H&R springs. My clutch is also an…
I agree, and as an insider, you definitely have seen it firsthand. I’ve been working here in Motor City for over a decade, within various sectors of Automotive. I applaud the Japanese for their ‘Kaizen’ methods / Quality control, but that’s only in theory it seems. Ever since the Asians and Europeans stopped building…
LeMans Blue is one of the best blues in the business. Enjoy it in good health. If you ever get a chance to, take it to a track, you’d be surprised how amazing the E39 M5s hold their own. Besides making sure everything is in order, be sure to upgrade your brakes, brake / clutch fluid and of course, tires. Below is…
Going from an MKV, which was amazing in its own right, to MKVII was a game changer. And handling on track with the VAQ diff made me a believer in the system. I can’t understand FWD performance vehicles that do not have some kind of locking diff. Honda Civic Si have always had a true LSD and handled great. E-Diff isn’t…
Ya it was a weird material, but it was used on a lot of interior buttons as well. They would become sticky as time went by and it would just make a mess. The idea behind it was that the buttons felt “soft” and good to touch.
Awesome, E39 M5s are the shit. I’m sitting just over 180K miles with my 2002 Carbon Black. I bought it back when M5s could still be had with an average household income (around 2014). It’s been super reliable and It was my daily / track / canyon car for a few years. In fact, between my wife and I, the E39 M5 also…
Damn that’s a gorgeous lookin’ Veedub !
That 1.5T Honda engine is nothing but trouble. Works fantastic, but my father has more or less the same engine in his CRV, and there’s been a few serious recalls and TSBs, and his engine is burning coolant since new. Its Canada though, so Lemon Law isn’t exactly a thing there.
If You Had To Buy A Car Today To Last 250,000 Miles, What Would You Buy?
That’s true, but you could buy aftermarket shells that didn’t deteriorate (felt cheap though without the coating) or you could spray some Plasti-Dip rubber coating for the same effect. The older Banana-style fob was a solid remote and fit right in the palm
