Barking up the wrong tree. I like the fact that Acura builds something that works... I can customize whatever sound I want into it. They’ve done the job perfectly.
Heavier? The GTR and this weigh the same. The Nismo costs the same as this does... Seriously people. How do you come up with all these criticisms without even driving the car. McLaren charges more for a 570s that is slower to 60 and costs 30k more....
Damned if you do or don’t. Irony is the current GTR makes the same power and weighs the same. Acura comes out with same mid engine car with 70hp more... Meh boring.... Retards everywhere. Irony is the preproduction model was tested. And now everyone is an expert on why the NSX isn’t good enough.
I’m impressed with Honda. That’s a pretty impressive TC system. Hope the CBR or whatever they release comes with it!
Still is a lot of speculation. The facts still stand. There is a lot of talk about how it could be a GP bike when the fact still stands that it isn’t. But that’s my opinion on the topic. There is a difference for a reason
I never argued any of that. What we’re talking about is the distinction between a MotoGP machine and WSBK. Those two aren’t the same. Just like claiming a McLaren P1 is as fast as a McLaren F1 car. Again not the same. That’s the distinction I’m trying to make.
Well you claim same underlying structure when the pictures alone tell us a different story. There is nothing similar to the chassis besides the overall outline of the bike. Keep in mind the RS-GP isn’t exactly the most competitive bike in the GP line up currently. Winning a race is a completely different topic of…
The difference is access to parts. Can’t buy parts that aren’t homologated. There are still restrictions on the modifications that can be made. What is very impressive is the fact that of the shelf parts used in WSBK, though they cost a pretty penny, can make a street bike competitive. There is a lot of modification…
Look at the other tracks as well. That’s when you’ll see the differences increase. Laguna Seca and Jerez are two tracks where the times come close. If you look at the tracks like Losail for example, the fastest WSBK time during the race was 1.58.068 set by Leon, and the slowest time for the GP grid was 1.57.982. Most…
That’s still 1 track in the season. Laguna Seca has been known for slowing down some of the fastest machines. You can even find plenty of videos on 600’s keeping up with the 1000’s and even a few 250’s keeping up with bigger bikes. These are amateur riders I’m referring to though.
Exactly!
Exactly! A MotoGP machine would be absolutely pointless in most people’s hands. Guess its the allure of being able to own something great. Still don’t see the point of the owner is incapable of handling it.
True. Just the lack of ride or driveability for any of those machines gives you an appreciation for what engineers do to give you a balance of feel and speed. Same reason why the R1 is now criticized.
Its a homologated machine unlike the RC213. There were reasons for why it was underpowered. This will not be the same case since it is based on a standard street bike. Also none of these versions are going to be road legal or have a warranty.
Its crazy to compare lap times and see how long it’s taken WSBK machines to get upto GP lap times. Last I checked bikes in 2015 came upto the times set by some of the slowest GP machines on the grid from 2005. 10 years of development and tire improvements and homologated machines have just hit those times. Insane to…
Well when they name a bike RSV that means it lines up with their homologated version. WSBK is the closest you could get to. MotoGP bikes cost as much as they do because there is next to no limitation and a clean sheet to start from.
Aprilia has been quoted providing specs for the Misano as being an entry level WSBK bike (link to source below). Homologated bikes will never be as fast as the MotoGP bikes. Too many compromises to homologate a machine. Keep in mind there is quite a lot of marketing hype involved when a rider says that. Rossi said…
Considering this is nowhere near as fast as an open class motoGP bike I wouldn’t say that. The RC213 is still 0.3 seconds slower than their open class GP bike that cost 1.3 million to lease. This is FIM or WSBK standards which are a farcry from MotoGP standards.
“isn’t really much different from the full fledged MotoGP race bike”. Really now? WSBK spec, yes. MotoGP. Nope....
