Really unfortunate that this has happened and I understand Nintendo's decision even though I don't think it's a solution.

I don't mind if the game only last 2 or 3 hours to finish, as long as there are different endings, paths/scenarios and such. Games like the first 3 Resident Evil games did it right.

Reminds me of Motorstorm Arctic Edge. You can't fully enjoy a damn race since every ramp and drop in the game is a smokescreen for a damn wall or a bottomless pit.
