There is a popular bar/restaurant in my city with a huge outside area full of picnic tables. I have seen parents change their kids ON THE PICNIC TABLES WITH NO PADS and it makes me want to barf.

It really speaks to the arrogance of ultra-rich people that having money will automatically get a child into the school of their choice. The assumption seems to be that throwing money around will allow a student to attend their preferred private or parochial school, without regard for admissions processes, biases, etc.

I’ve been pretty meh on air fryers, but the result in your photo is making me seriously rethink that position. That kind of yumminess without the hassle of oil is pretty enticing... thank you for sharing!

I’ve been in a long-distance relationship for over 4 years. All of my vacations are predominantly to bone.

The message from restaurant owners and chefs in my area has been that the app will post menus on their site, even if the restaurant is not in fact partnered with that app. Frequently the menus are either out of date or include menu items that would not be offered for delivery (travels poorly, too low of a profit

The point was that it is attended mainly by biotech execs (including many small startups) and investment firms seeking to connect, while actual health insurance companies have a much smaller interest and presence. As you say, information presented was minimal, so I’m just trying to be informative.

No one in my family has been able to get it outside of Pennsylvania. Growing up in Philadelphia, corn pudding was one of our core Thanksgiving/holiday dishes, so when people started moving to other parts of the country (and even just on the East Coast), we had to ship them bags of Cope’s to get them through those

Just as a small fyi to those interested, the JP Morgan healthcare conference is mainly about investment in pharma and biotech companies. There is some health insurance tech and strategy, but the majority of attendees are hedge funds and pharma/biotech execs. Their spending certainly may contribute to oppressive

Yeah, the clavicle and shoulder are also molded as hard-ish material, since the shape is held while not actually sitting on her right shoulder at that photo instant. Seems like it would pinch a bit!

They’re also functional skill-building toys. I can’t tell if the Fisher Price set is like this, but the Melissa and Doug sliceable toys have velcro’ed wooden slices which give resistance to the blunt knife used to “cut” them. The toys really help kids build fine motor skills with specific reference to food prep, and

Agreed completely. If there are kids involved, his priority will be (or at least should be) maintaining their safety and his relationship with them. I could never fault him being cautious with his public statements for that reason.

My mom has become a huge fan of the original Wizard of Oz books, and a year or two ago was recounting the plot of one of them. As she went on with the story, I realized how many elements sounded just like Return to Oz; I remember getting increasingly uncomfortable as I was reminded of the creepiest parts of that

You don’t have to worry about electrical outages to cook on a gas stove. And I can’t tell whether you’re talking about running out of gas in your home, or on Earth overall, but either way, that argument really doesn’t make sense.

Sounds like that one guy was missing some compassion- glad you were able to help! It’s amazing how those situations can stick with us for years.

As a former cashier, usually someone picks on that pretty quickly and throws in some change, but there’s always weird times when no one wants to get involved.

I once saw Dion Phaneuf out on the street and first recognized that he must be a hockey player by his rather enormous hockey ass. Like all his pants must have to be custom-cut.

omg it’s Drop Dead Fred! I gotta watch The Young Ones now. Never knew of it before!

Damn, that was... intentional. I’ve never encountered it in such a blatant manner. I have recently had phone interviews in which I was asked things like “do you have any potential family situations that would impact your decision to accept a job?” Which sounds like a not-very-roundabout way of asking whether I have or

I sympathize with feeling talked down to by folks a few years younger than myself (I am also about 4 years out of grad school). I tell myself that I must just look sooo young ;) You’re good! I think it has taken me 2-3 months in any job to feel fully comfortable with my day-to-day responsibilities. Give yourself a

I’ve had that happen after planning ahead, and it’s somewhat disappointing. On the other hand, often there are specials that are a pleasant surprise after having read the menu ahead of time!
