Great piece (seriously). Also, bonus points for not headlining it “10 things you don’t know about cholesterol — and #8 could kill you.”

I’m sure it’s only a matter of time before it’s revealed that somebody at FIFA took kickbacks to allocate teams to particular hotels. The one hosting the US and Germany in particular is soon going to be able to brag that it hosted the World Champions, and that’s probably worth a gold watch or a free trip?

“Urban dictionary ... isn’t particularly reliable”. If this were an Understatement Contest thread, we could hand out the prize, shut the doors, and go home now.

IT. WAS. A. JOKE.

No offense taken, just wanted to be clear (because some people actually did think I was serious!). I’m just old enough to remember watching the last few years of the Apollo program on a black & white TV. This year I finally visited Kennedy Space Center, and it is amazing. The combination of the power and size of the

Um, I’m not how to break this to you, but that was a joke. I’m not actually suggesting that somebody could find all the parts for a Saturn V in a box at the back of the VAC and put together a launch...

I can’t tell whether you’re joking, or you couldn’t tell that I was joking. So thanks, Internet!

If NASA engineers are like every other techie I have ever known, I bet they have boxes of old parts around there somewhere. If they scavenged around a bit, they can probably find everything need to assemble another Saturn V / Apollo stack.

How about some love for the Lego Master Builder Academy (MBA) series, the goal of which is to help people learn basic skills so as to be more successful in open building without crimping their creativity? The kits teach techniques such as stability, balance, moving parts, color palettes, etc.

I’m not sure you’re entirely clear on the meaning of the word “serious”?

Munchhausen Syndrome by Proxy? Usually it takes the form of “pay attention to me because my kids are sick”, here it seems to be “pay attention to me because my kids are being racially harrassed”.

“In reality, the bacteria in our colon are good for us. We don’t need to constantly evict them, or worry about their waste products”

I’ve had a pair of MDRV6s for the best part of 30 years now, and they are still awesome for everything from music to movies to gaming. I’m tempted to get these because the MDRV6 has to die someday... right?

OK, this is very much a beginner’s question: What are the practical differences between the orbital sander and the finish sander? Apparently, one can’t do both jobs, just with different grades of sanding disk... Also, where would you put a mouse sander in this pantheon — is that a tool also worth having?

In fact the manual explicitly says “no faster than the speed limit”, so it’s very clear that your interpretation is correct, no ambiguity.

...and if you read further you will find that it says, quite explicitly, “...but never faster than the posted speed limit”. In other words, at the officer’s discretion you can get a speeding ticket while driving under the limit if conditions such as weather or traffic make that unsafe

I’ve been a Prime member for a long time and I’d never heard of Household before. So now I can finally stop my wife’s purchases from influencing my recommendations {happy face}

4. Turn the container frequently to allow trapped moisture to escape.

Dremel makes me sad. I always imagine the amazing list of things I’m going to do with mine, but in reality the most complex thing I do is use the cutoff tool. (Mind you, when you need to cut off a piece of metal in a constricted space, nothing else comes close.) I even have the mini-router and mini-drill press

I bought some of those from HD to sit around the fire pit, and they’re crap. This year they are going in the fire pit.
