This is my relationship with my sister in 7 lines. I would send it to her but we are no longer in contact.

I thought that was a transcript of Jeff Sessions’ testimony from the other day.
oh, man
Also, the recommendations of an inquest into the Lakanal House tower block fire still haven’t been implemented by the government.
Does anybody else feel like today is the 2016 of days?
Incidents of this kind do not have to happen in this day and age! Sprinklers, fire alarms, proper construction - all these have proven time and time again to save lives.
My dad was a fire fighter for decades and the FIRST things I brought into any apartment or house I moved into were fire alarm/CO monitors and a fire extinguisher. Even if they had alarms installed already, I’m not about to trust my life to the owner’s diligence.
Seconded and adding that you should install a carbon monoxide detector as well if your house doesn’t already have one. We’ve had too many tragedies in Colorado relating to whole families dying from CO2
I was reading an article on this this morning and was shocked at the number of 9/11 truthers that chose to crawl out from under their rocks to spout their weird propaganda and comment ironically on how THIS 24-story building residential bulding didn’t collapse after burning yet the 110-story WTC buildings (the ones…
THIS.
And now the lack of concern about the safety regulations makes sense. :(
I was really surprised when I read that the standing safety instruction for the building was to “shelter in place” in the event of a fire. I’ve never lived in a high rise, but I’ve been in numerous high-rise hotels and I’ve NEVER seen signage indicate staying put if you hear a fire alarm. How common is this? It would…
Cuts to the fire services don’t help either:
Our house fire happened during a Sunday morning. It was a window unit that was the cause. Even though smoke and flames were shooting out of the bitch and the curtains on the window were on fire, my brother was still peacefully sleeping not two feet away from it. He only woke up when we starting screaming his name.
12 deaths now confirmed. Firefighters have now been able to access all floors of the building and say they do not expect to find anyone else alive. I dread to think how many people died trapped, and I hope they passed out and died of smoke inhalation.
Just a general PSA that the smell of smoke will not wake you up from sleeping. A lot of people think that they’ll be able to wake up if there is ever a fire in their house in the middle of the night, but the opposite is actually true. Smoke inhalation will deepen your sleep. Your best defense against fire is a working…
This is public housing isn’t it?
I live about 1.5 miles away from the tower, and could see the smoke from my street this morning. So scary, I can’t stop thinking about how terrified these poor people must have been. Some witnesses were being interviewed on the BBC this morning and they said it initially looked like the fire might be controllable, but…
Horrible. Making matters worse Grenfell Tower is publicly subsidized housing that prioritizes low-income and disabled residents.
This is a horrible tragedy and it appears that it was all too foreseeable.
