While I mostly agree, if you FULLY anonymize the story to the point where characters involved, are you really still telling the same story.  Doubly so since this was him telling HIS story.  I mean  I haven’t seen the show, but from what I can tell the only similarities between the character in the show and the real

I’m not saying this woman has a case - I don’t know enough about the situation to weigh in either way - but I do think it’s worth having a serious discussion about how much effort needs to be put into making the subjects of “true story” entertainment anonymous. Should Gadd and people like him be able to tell their

What, no. That can’t be a thing. Are you ok?

Thoughts from an internet rando:

I think Multiverse of Madness is pretty unfairly maligned. It suffers from:

I liked Iron Fist actually. A lot of people weren’t looking for a story about a kid with horrible PTSD returning from years of being tortured in captivity only to find out that the one person he thought he could trust was the person who betrayed him, but I found it to be an interesting take.

Ilike all the Avengers movies and I hope this one will be good too.

Remember that Adam West movie from the 80s called Zombie Nightmare? (It was one of the better MST3K episodes from season six.) Shawn Levy was this loathsome but very memorable character:

There’s a huge difference between working at your parent’s store and getting your foot in the door in an industry where there are 1,000 qualified candidates for every job.

I think we regular folk have no problem with nepobabies when they are GOOD. We love people Jamie Lee Curtis, Drew Barrymore, Maya Hawke. We do NOT like Felicity Huffman’s shit-for-brains daughter.

To be totally honest, the nepo babies the Internet is interested in are not the problem in Hollywood. Josh Brolin growing up on film sets and becoming a great actor to me isn’t that different from the kid of a butcher becoming a butcher. Yes he, Hawke, and other kids have had opportunities other kids don’t have, but

Having parents who are artists and love art is historicaly a good source of people who grow up to love art and want to create it themselves.

Except the economic motivations of those hiring nepo children isn’t to fill a role that sells a lot of tickets, it’s to create a generational talent with access to the same network of contacts and producers that the parent had. Lily Rose-Depp, Scott Eastwood, Zosia Mamet. These aren’t actors getting jobs because

Rumer Willis

I thought Once Upon a Time in Hollywood purposefully cast a bunch of nepo babies for the Manson family? Kevin Smith’s daughter, Andie Macdowell’s daughter... thought there were others too?

......I meant the paragraph wasn’t that hard to read.

Hughes et al once made their DM so mad that he stopped their D&D game. Not that hard.

This is a difficult needle to thread, because what made Honor Among Thieves work so well was that it wasn’t just another fantasy story - it was someone generating a fantasy version of exactly was was going on in a D&D game. It leaned so hard into the gaming tropes that I really felt like I was watching a gaming group
