Oh god please don’t encourage people to mix random cleaners.  For example, ammonia+bleach=DEATH

Okay, but how effective are Lysol wipes on skin, anyway? I realize it’s not to spec, but if I have nothing else to clean my hands, do they work at all? I use them without gloves all the time anyway, and I always wonder whether after I wipe something sketchy I really need to hand sanitize, too.

You’re correct: the original comment was a reaction. It was not a response, because it simply denied the conclusion without addressing any of the arguments. It was a non-response. Merits aside, the tendency of people to respond to arguments with “nun-uh!” irks me.

Understanding shades of grey is hard. Making nuanced arguments is hard. Posting “this is dumb” is easy.

Did you read the f*cking article? Get out of here with that bullshit.

Oh god, you got me on the air conditioner thing.  We set HVACs in terms of temperature, people.  Why would we refer to changes in HVAC settings in terms of blower speed?  “Air conditioning down” = lower the A/C temperature.

The pants-wetting analogy is gold. Here’s another:

I bet you could, though of course only for other cured eggs.  Anything with nearly 50% salt/50% sugar is going to be crazy hostile to bacterial growth.

Didja read the article?

This started working about an hour later, for whatever reason.  I didn’t even have the program open, I just suddenly noticed that the shortcut worked.  So if you’re like me and have this problem, wait an hour and see if it works.

I tried this with Win+R and it got set to “Undefined.” It seems to have an issue with any shortcut including the windows key.

This is great! Unfortunately I can’t get the keyboard manager to remap shortcuts at all.  Remapping the keyboard works as expected, but no shortcuts.  I even tried their canonical example (ctrl+c to ctrl+v), and no go.  (Yes, I made sure the order was correct as per the pic above.)  Anyone else have this issue?

Bane mask checks out.

You absolutely have options! Unfortunately none of them is a quick-fix sub-in for baking soda, and you’re often just better off going to the store (or, these days, skipping the bake entirely).

Note: Store bought baking powder is “double acting”—it rises twice, including one rise when it’s being heated. Homemade powder (soda+acid) will typically rise once when mixed. So, if using homemade powder, mix and get it into it’s final form quickly, or don’t be surprised if it doesn’t rise correctly.

And if you do, stay home too!

Great, so in response to people misidentifying a flying insect, we’re relying on them to accurately tell what is and is not a bee? :)

I’ve routinely used my Chase Sapphire Reserve for contactless payments over $200 and never been asked to sign. Similarly, no signature when using my Citi Double Cash in my iOS wallet for tap-to-pay on high amounts.  Anyone else?
