Don’t see why patent attorneys would care. This is a trademark dispute.
Don’t say that an attorney can’t share their client’s info because it is privileged. They can’t share it because it is confidential!
IP Lawyer here. My internet-specific contribution: copyright infringement is typically not theft, though it is usually illegal. Theft, as a legal term, generally requires an intent to deprive an owner of the taken goods, which copying does not usually do.
Ah, gotcha. Yes, that would be annoying! I’ve only started to peek down that rabbit hole. I remember vaguely that there is some research into surface area being a factor on perceived saltiness, is that right? Share some links? :)
Most of my publications call for Diamond-brand kosher salt. Again, the reason is consistency. Morton’s kosher salt is much more dense than Diamond, so the same teaspoon includes a lot more punch. (I don’t know offhand how Maldon compares.) Both are a lot less dense than table salt. Some books include a key to…
Puzzlingly, most salted caramel recipes call for unsalted butter, then have you make up the difference with flaky salt. Why?
Bravo.
As a Seattleite, when I read about this process, I often think about the Winner’s Curse. Basically, the theory goes that, given incomplete information, the winner of an auction tends to overpay. I’m fairly sure that will apply to the HQ2 search. Cities compete to give more and more incentives, and in that process the…
So long as you buy the ticket for the fun of it, and recognize the limited odds, I’m totally okay with it. Same with gambling. But I recognize that there are real societal issues caused by promoting such things. Same with gambling (or liquor for that matter).
I would be interested to see a breakdown (given typical purchasing habits for this jackpot size) of the actual expected ROI from buying every possible ticket.
Of course these numbers also assume you’re the only winner. In reality your expected return for buying every combination would be somewhat less than full winnings. And if you play “popular numbers” and win, your chances of splitting the pot go up significantly. Lotteries are a great exploitation at peoples’ limited…
I’m on board with this.
So quick to judge! I don’t have personal knowledge, but other news outlets are reporting the same thing. The Inquirer reports that it’s confirmed by an “Apple Support rep.” Not the best source, but no worse than random people on the comments thread...
Oh, the vast majority will get screwed too, just with another level of indirection. If we go 1 trillion into debt, suddenly there won’t be any more money for any social programs to help the vast majority have any shot of getting into that slim minority (like education).
No, but you probably do need to be rich to reap most of the benefits from this tax cut. The pass through rate benefits those in the top tax brackets the most, and would have no effect on anyone not already in a tax bracket above 25% (currently at least 90k earnings a year, though I’m not sure if that changes here).
I wasn’t aware of it. It looks nice though! Thanks for letting me know.
That makes sense. I guess I’m too lazy to juggle cards for the most part. Appreciate the feedback though!
Appreciate the breakdown. Since I’m mostly flying short flights in economy (or bumped to F due to status), I don’t see myself really using this. But it’s great to know!
