While it wouldn’t be a remake, I still think that the Assignment: Earth spin-off of the original Star Trek would be fun.

I just assume all these stories take place in alternate universes where society evolves differently enough to make those things possible in the year they happen. It’s like when Clarke said the tech in 2001 would have been accurate if politicians hadn’t gutted the space program after Apollo.

While I don’t disagree with the premise, I would argue Lost in Space (the TV show obviously) is a cult-classic.
