It sounds like you have more of an issue with the Dev and Creative teams than the app itself. I don't use Windows, so I don't have much to offer on the topic, but is closing the app from the taskbar really such a big deal to you? Can't you just do Alt + Space and press C?

Umm... I guess I like it... But I've always been one to peruse through the headlines, and having that right-hand column was pretty handy for that. I don't deny that this layout is much PRETTIER... I just don't know how PRACTICAL it is.
