Whiskey stones suck because the instant you take them out of the freezer, they start to get warmer so they have very poor thermal transmission to the whiskey. Ice is better because it stays the same temperature as it melts. I have found the best answer is to freeze the whiskey stones in an ice cube tray with water.

What you aren't taking into account is the fact that as the surface area increases, so does the cost per square inch. Much like 2 half carat diamonds cost far less than 1 one carat diamond. I would bet the price is going to be closer to $75,000.
