Castro was a much stronger presence in the campaign than I expected him to be. In the past, I’d always seen him as a kind of John Edwards figure (i.e., an attractive empty suit whom the party wanted to elevate for reasons related to geography and demographics), but he was a lot more genuine-seeming than John Edwards…

Castro is a good guy and viable candidate but for some goddamn reason Biden is still standing and Petey has sucked the air out in these early stages. Castro will find his way to a VP nom and, if not on the winning ticket, he’ll definitely have a cabinet seat.

Bummed but not surprised. Castro was actually my favorite candidate. His campaign texted me 3 times on NYE, in a last ditch effort to raise funds before the end of month deadline, so it was clear they were desperate. I wish his platform and message had resonated with more people. At least I’m comforted by the idea…

I think if you’re saying you should have listened to your gut then you know the answer. There’s so much change that happens between the age of 20 and 30 and if two people don’t change in the same kind of way, then it usually becomes increasingly apparent that the match has run its course.

Remember, charisma is as charisma does. It’s not just extroversion/showmanship, it’s making a subject come alive, being present with students, etc. When you’re doing interviews, ask questions of your own. Make the interviewer feel listened to and special.
